CATHOLIC MOUNT AUBURN - UPDATE 8-1-2014
MANY EARLY CAMBRIDGE DEATHS NOTED ON CEMETERY RECORDS DO NOT NAME A SPECIFIC FIRST NAME. I AM REVIEWING THOSE DEATHS TO CAMBRIDGE DEATH RECORDS & ADDING THEM TO FINDAGRAVE
Headstones are completed.
April 1854- June 1878, compared to cemetery records and Ancestry.com death records.
Cambridge, Somerville, Belmont & Chelsea records are not yet on Ancestry.com. There are many name errors on the cemetery records.
This is the final review and I am adding maiden names to Findagrave.com as I find them.
So far the municipal burial records for Catholic Mount Auburn are noted as:
Watertown, R C Cemetery Watertown, Mount Auburn, Cambridge and a few as Dorchester
May 1882 to December 1885 records have not been done. The Catholic Archives does not have them, however I have not checked with the Catholic Cemetery Association. That will be done at the end of this project.
I also have a list of 87 Civil War Veterans buried or memorialized. Please email if you want that list.
I am happy to transfer names.
Working names of, Reavey, Reavy, Ravey, McEvoy, Heanue, Griffin, Gorman

I thought I was fairly sure (but not totally sure) that the person in this grave was my G-G-G grandmother, Julia Flynn Shanahan. How did you determine that her maiden name was Murray?

I wanted you to know that what you told be about David Splain be buried in the Fenton lot led me to look for his death certificate at the NEHGS. The vol and page they gave me was incorrect so I looked up one of the people on that page and it led me to the same page, different address. I emailed the NEHGS about the mistake I found and they emailed me back that they researched the problem and found the right page. They emailed it to me besides correcting it on their site.
So, what you told me solved another problem, just think I am only one person amongst the many that you have helped.
So how many problem have you really solved?

I couldn't believe how fast you responded to my email. Thank you for the transfers and "all the work" you have given me looking for the rest of the people buried in that lot. How many are buried there anyway? It would be nice if there was a plot plan for the lot, but I guess that would be too easy. If I get stuck you may be hearing from me again. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you very much for taking the photograph for me at Mount Auburn Cemetery. I greatly appreciate your efforts. Julia is my 2nd great-grandmother.
|Spirit Baker||John Armstrong|
Thank you for the attempt at the photo. Shame the stone is gone or never placed. With so many John Armstrong's I was hoping it stated parent's names on it. My Armstrong did live in that area for 2 generations.
