I have no problem transferring memorials. However, if they are a part of my family, I will follow Find A Grave guidelines. Although I disagree with how stingy some people are, I also understand that a lot of time is put into creating memorials. My biggest pet peeves here are those who create duplicates without checking first, those who create memorials for living people so they have "first shot" at the memorial when the person does pass away, "Number Chasers" are the worst, and those that refuse to update memorials when someone sends them updates through the edit button. The whole point of this site is to create memorials for those that have passed away. MANY genealogists use this site to trace their trees. Why is it so hard to update when the chance is presented to you?
I am a proud member & volunteer for the Illinois Ancestor Tombstone Project, focusing on the counties of Knox, Fulton, Henry, Mercer & Warren. You can find this amazing project here: Illinois Ancestors Tombstone Project

William Smith's grandson, Vernon Smith, married Faira Cowman. Faira's mother was Sarah Simkins, and Sarah's brother Gilbert was Tom's great grandpa.
We were at West Midway Cemetery last May and took photo's of all headstones, found out who was related (most of them are), and made memorials for those who did not have one on Find a Grave. While William was not a direct relation, he's close.
His grandson's wife was first cousin to Tom's grandma, Iva Simkins Potter.

Back in 2013 you placed a headstone photograph on the memorial for this gentleman. Do you recall if his headstone was in the same cemetery as his wife's? His memorial is currently listed as cremated and location unknown but I would love to have it updated if I could. The memorial # is 76251719 if that aids you.

|Tom and Nancy Gawthrop||RE: Walter Howard Long photo's|
I figured he was relation; the family resemblance is fantastic. I found a picture of his headstone on Ancestry.com already and uploaded it. He was a cousin of a cousin...of a cousin to us and where we were making connections to those buried in West Midway Cemetery, we thought we'd ask.
I ran across a photo of Susan Elizabeth Bradford Wyman in Westfall Cemetery outside Victoria. She is a sister to our cousin Cherry Hanson's great grandma. Can we copy the picture of her headstone? Promise to put your name and contr. number on it. Thanks. Nancy Gawthrop

If I were to watercolor your name and Find a Grave contr. number on Walter's picture and his headstone, would you mind if I posted them on Ancestry.com? Nancy Gawthrop
|Leonard Gross||Thank You|
Thank you for the transfer
