I'm a retired nonprofit professional who became interested in genealogy and cemetery research while studying at Smith College. I'm now a F.A.G. photo volunteer and a very experienced amateur genealogist. |
A few things to know about me and my activities here: I do not ever claim photo requests. I have health and family issues that make it impossible to promise to fulfill a request; however there is nothing I love more than going out looking, so I do it whenever I can.
Please feel free to use my photos here or on Ancestry for your personal use, but do not publish them without my permission.
If you are interested in the Footes, I am a direct descendant of Nathaniel Foote and have the second edition of the printed genealogy. I also have a copy (somewhere!) of a Fisk(e) genealogy as my husband is descended from the Fisks.
Current research projects include Fontaine, Kocum (Kocun, Kozen), Kopinsky, Tucker, Maslowsky, Springer, Anderson, Wolf, Moody and Simes (Sims, Symes, Syms).
Happy hunting. We are doing a good thing here.

Yes, it was helpful. You may be interested to know that a book has been written about him and his record of correspondence with relatives. He was in a CT Civil War division that was captured en masse by the Confederates, and was imprisoned in Andersonville. Before capture, the soldiers tore their company flag into small strips to be saved and hidden by the prisoners. The re-assembled flag is in the CT state Library. Book is Field Music: From Antietam to Andersonville: The Civil War Letters of Lyman B. Wilcox by Caliandri, Jacobs, and Moran, Berlin Historical Society, Berlin, CT

None of those names sound familiar. My Dad's family all stayed in the New Haven/Hamden area. I am related to one of the founders of New Haven - Roger Alling, he is on the original land map of New Haven.
