Feel free to use my photos for your genealogy research, but please mention that you got the photo from findagrave. |
When I do headstone hunts, its nice to get a thank-you from the requester! Also, when writing to me, add a salutation at the beginning, and a thank-you at the end!
Also, thank you to everyone who follows through and makes the enhancements that I send.
Use a mirror to reflect the sunlight off of the stones lettering. I have a cheap $10.00 mirror that is about 4 feet high. I can hold the mirror in one hand, and take the photo with the other hand.
Another place to find your ancestors gravestone photos is on: http://www.flickr.com/ just search for their name.
A complete and searchable listing of the Hale collection is now available on ancestry.com. To find it, click on "search" at the top of the screen. Bring down the drop down list, and click on "card catalog". Then, in the search box, type in "Hale". Then click on it, and you can do a name search. Be advised that not all names come up.

Finally recovered my original source:
"Twinsburg, Ohio, 1817-1917" ... - Page 484
Samuel Bissell Memorial Library Association (Twinsburg, Ohio),Lena May Carter, Roselle Theodore Cross
'Orrin Tucker, b. 11, 11, 1796; d. 8, 4, 1866;
son of Enoch and Anna (Parson) Tucker; came 1820'
Authors do not cite their source, but this history was based on old township records, memoirs, and letters. I got a copy from the Twinsburg Historical Society while visiting the cemetery where my Tuckers were buried.
Orrin Tucker was one of the early settlers of Twinsburg, OH, having come with his father-in-law to be Joshua Post. He was my paternal grandmother's grandfather.
|grabsucher||RE: Anna Tooker #70882505|
The name Anna Parson was found in a profile for Enoch Tucker in a public tree on Ancestry.com when searching for Enoch Tucker, b. 1775 d. 1830,
both in Connecticut, and father Timothy Tucker.
I will access my library Ancestry account to get more detail and send another note in a couple days.

*I've "heard" that it is not reliable as they just "do the math" and estimate. Whether that is true or just a rumor I don't know.

Great to see the grave and link the family members. Well done.
I had no recollection of that but I know how hard you work trying to get the correct info on there.
I have run into the same thing where people are asking for a photo of a headstone and there will already be one on there they say they want and UPDATED one from a headstone from 1800 or something--as if it will likely to look better 10 yrs. later. Or you check w the grave guy and that person is NOT listed or in the cemetery at least w a headstone but they insist on keeping it on the to fill list. Wouldn't be so bad if they did the basic groundwork first. I've backed off a bit filling requests bkz my enthusiasm has diminished when it becomes so rampant. Thanks again. Pat
