Bio Photo Retired old curmudgeon, sharing space with numerous cats, books, prints, broken furniture and other detritus of 19th and 20th century life.

I've always enjoyed the peace and serenity in old cemeteries. When I was small, my gg-grandmother, g-grandmother, grandmother & mother would pack a picnic lunch, usually on Easter sunday and the whole family would visit our ancestors in Forest Park cemetery. Afterwards I would feed stale bread to the ducks and we would eat lunch by the lake in the middle of the cemetery, under the spreading branches of the old oak trees.

I discovered some old photos while going through a recently-deceased relative's possessions. Among the collection were several photos of five generations of my ancestors, seventy years ago, dressed in their Sunday finery, with my gg-grandmother holding me in her lap, the first-born of the next generation, with the cemetery lake in the background. What a find!

Obidiah Dean
Hello Dan...
I got that exact message from David also on Obidiah Dean, but don't know what picture he is referring to. I entered that memorial, but added no picture...

RE: Obediah Dean
Dan,
OH, leave it there. That is actually the picture that I took myself.
Do you remember who you got it from?
You could transfer ownership or something like that if you like.

Thanks for posting my picture of my gggrandfather Obediah Dean in Carrolls Meth Church cemetery.
I made that pic myself several years ago. I know it is mine because I have the same exact pic with the shaving cream in the same places that I rubbed on.
I shared it with several cousins so I guess they gave it to you?
Would it be possible to transfer it to me?

Alice Rust
I noticed you had asked to be able to maintain this site for Alice Rust. Are you related as she is my husband's mother? I appreciate everything that everyone contributes to these sites. Thank you.

I didn't put that link there and couldn't. I was wondering why it was there!

Dan, would you like Laddy Joe's memorial to go along with Myrtle's? I'd be happy to transfer it to you. I thought I should take a photo of his since it was next to Myrtle's, and put it up as I was filling your requests.
Best wishes,
Raye Smith

RE: Robert. E. Puryear
I never thought to say I would be happy to transfer these to you. just let me know. The monuments face east so its difficult to get a good picture, I will go by and at least get a pic of the stone even if the reading cannot be read,.
