RE: Rachel Lusina
Hello Fraya,

Milton Whitney was married first to Mary Elizabeth Pepinger in Oct 1857 (1838 1871). They had six children; Ellen M, Morris M, Emma J, Charlotte E, and an infant who died at birth. Elda are therefor not Rachel's children, but those of Milton's first wife, Mary. Rachel had one child with Milton, Cecil I Whitney.

I believe the Elda M you refer to is Ellen M, so named in later census records. Born in 1858 I lost her after the 1880 census when she lived in Rollin, Lenawee, Michigan with her family. Emma and Charlotte show up on the 1870 census, but not on the 1880 census, when they are still too young to be on their own, and had most likely died by then.

Interesting about the Pratt name not being part of Rachel's father's name on her death record. There are indeed no census records for a Hiram Harrison, but there is an 1850 census for HH and Huldah Pratt living in Homer, Calhoun, Michigan, with a daughter named Rachel L Pratt, very likely Rachel Lusina. I will change the name in my tree.

Thanks so much for your input,

Liz Hyde
