|What a great site. I found it a few years ago while researchig family and decided to add local graves. Most entries are for Illinois cemeteries; mainly Bluff City in Elgin, but other cemeteries, too.|
If I have added a duplicate memorial, please let me know.
Most entries for deaths prior to 1995 are from grave photos. I am working to get all the photos uploaded, but this is a slow process. If there is not a photo on the memorial you are interested in, just ask (via edit/suggest a correction) and if I have a photo of that grave I will expedite the upload. Many memorials from 1995 and later are obituary based and there is a higher chance that I do not have a photo. A warning: my photography leaves something to be desired at times; if you have a better photo, please add it.
I do not include obituaries (in rare circumstances, I make exceptions), but will add excerpts; I will not include names of living persons.
I am happy to add family link and extra information into memorials. I will generally attempt to confirm the information first, though.
If you would like a transfer, please request it through the Edit-Suggest a correction tab.
Most photos include a geotag in the metadata.
This information can be mapped by uploading the photo to Jeffery's EXIF viewer at: http://regex.info/exif.cgi
Pictures may be copied for personal, non-commercial purposes (including adding to Ancestry.com, if desired); a small credit would be appreciated (but not necessary).

Hi Bob, I am researching the Warner family, among other things on Find A Grave, and found your entry for Lillian Warner Sherwood. She was a sister to my husband's great grandfather, Lansing Warner. You have her parents listed as Chas. & Fonella. Do you know where you got that info? We have a different name for Chas. wife but our information is rather sketchy and could be inaccurate. Thanks for any help you can provide. Melanie

I am doing research on my home and the families who lived here in the late 1800's. I live in the house Cora Jane Brown Hamlin grew up in. It was in the Brown family until the 1940's. I'm guessing you may be related and hopefully you won't find this message intrusive. I'm just searching for history on my home and became interested in the people who lived here as well.

Hi Bob...I could show you easier. I have it all worked out in a file.
It's the 1870 Elgin census when Marcus is with Martha and the 2 daughters of Marcus' are living with them. Jennie is the daughter of Marcus and Angeline...and Jesse is the daughter of Marcus and Martha. Jesse was born in 1862...I'm assuming that Marcus and Martha were married sometime before 1862. Therefore, I conclude that Marcus and Angeline were divorced between the 1860 census in Illinois and the birth of Marcus and Martha's daughter, Jesse in 1862.
Can you email me at yahoo?

Thanks for so speedily taking their monument photo!
Caroline is my great-great aunt. It is wonderful to have found their grave on Find a Grave and had a volunteer follow up! Thank you so much!
Sincerely, J. Peck

Thank you for transferring their memorials to my care.
Would you, by any chance have a close-up of the writing on the monument above their gravestones? I can't read it. If not, would you mind taking a close-up the next time you are at the cemetery? If you are unable to do this, please let me know and I'll put in a regular photo request.
Thanks so much.

Thanks, Bob! You are a true jewel on FindaGrave! I believe my great uncle was married to another daughter, Frieda, as per their marriage registration which lists her parents as Hy and Anna Bierman Matthies. Sadly, both my great uncle, William Petersen, and Frieda are buried in unmarked graves in Burlington Union Cemetery. I am trying to get records to validate his service in WWI so I can get him a military headstone but I have so little info I am finding it very difficult. Thanks again!
