Taphophilia (a passion and enjoyment of cemeteries) has been my main hobby since the late 1970's when I was a junior in high school. I discovered that cemeteries in and around Los Angeles were the best places to hide from truant officers. It was in these adopted sanctuaries that I began to appreciate my surroundings: the grounds, the headstones, the architecture, the artwork and most importantly, the residents.|
In October of 2010, I founded The Traveling Taphophiles, a group that sets out once a month to visit cemeteries. Our travels have taken us as far as New Orleans. I'm fortunate to have met others that share my hobby and to have forged some great friendships along the way.
Once photos have been posted, feel free to use them as you wish - photo credit isn't necessary.
Happy Graving ~
I miss Chris and Martha with all my heart.

A friend of mine was just at Forrest Lawn and got in to where Bogart is buried. ...and Lauren Bacall IS NOT at Forrest Lawn.
I believe she's buried somewhere in NY. She is not in California. This entry is incorrect.

Bless you! Bless You ten times over. Seeing my Aunt Arthel's headstone brought tears to my eyes, especially seeing as it is not possible for to travel to her gravesite. Your kindness and photo has given me the virtual visit I needed, and is there for all of our family. Thank You!

Thank you so much for providing a picture of my great-uncle's grave! Today my children and I photographed some graves in a local cemetery. I hopped on the computer to upload the pictures (my first time ever doing it) and I wondered if Find A Grave would email the people who had requested the pictures to let them know they were now available. So, when I opened my email and discovered you had filled MY request, my question was answered. What a wonderful gift to receive on the very same day I completed pictures for others! Guess the old saying is true, what goes around comes around! :)
