Bio and Links
Bio Photo In the 1980's I started researching my Linn ancestors (without benefit of computer) but got busy with my sons' activities and put it on hold. In 1999 a cousin got me involved with my Steinberg ancestors and I have been going full speed ahead ever since.

Upon graduating from the University of Illinois my father obtained employment in the State of Washington, far from any relatives. My ancestors (after entering the USA)settled in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey - I want to experience first hand where and how they lived so I travel the country obtaining data, meeting people, seeing the sights and tramping cemeteries. I missed the "cousin experience" growing up and think that is why I enjoy genealogy so much -- meeting new cousins (who cares if they are 1st or 10th cousins)and sharing our family histories.

I am researching Linn, Gibson, Weir, Scott, Polk, Steinberg, Koerner, Mitten, Bennett, Switzer (Swisher), Slonaker, Shaw, Goff, Townsend, McCarty and Whitehead, Miller, Schroen, Glabe, Schafer/Schaefer/Shafer. I am also reseaching Dishon, Deshon, DeShon, Deschamps and Herrold for my two sons.

I was very sad at the headstone too, I think I had an Angel helping me, because with no dates, no name basically, I was led right to it. Thank You again so much, you have made me so very happy and very thankful for kind people like you on Find a grave.

RE: Linn tombstone photos

Thank you. It is interesting in that John Ward is next to his mother and Fountain is next to his daughter. There is a place for a third plaque on Fountain's marker. Violet Nancy is a real mystery to me, I can't find a record of her. Did she remarry and have that surname in the records? I made GPS edits. The bright green markers can be seen in the satellite photo.--Storres

RE: Lydia Linn Rupert
Hi Jan,
I'm not sure who her parents are. Two of her children's death certificates have her maiden name as Winn or Wynn but of course I can't find any Lydia Wynns in the census either.

From the life dates it looks like this person died as an infant. The plot info I was given was North_51_14. Based on that, I looked & looked, but could not find any marker for him specifically. But he may be related (grandson maybe?) to William #8706644 & Susan Adams #8706639 who do have a fancy double marker in that area. So I will upload a wide shot of the area where he might be.

For reference you can see this family on the 1880 census in Chatsworth, Livingston, Illinois.

Do you have contact information for the cemetery?

Thank you so much for your time.
