I would like to ask if you would take a moment to place a flower at my dad's memorial, Gene H. Barnes (1928-2007) at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas? Many thanks to those who have.

At one time or another, we have all looked at a cemetery and felt that the people buried there are not only long gone, they're also long forgotten. And if it happens to be our relatives or friends it can leave an especially empty feeling. But, Findagrave empowers us to put an end to those concerns. Therefore, I now view cemeteries as a place where people can be remembered and their stories saved and shared rather than lost.

Just one of the many lives that also sticks with me is that of Daniel Cason, former slave and Union Civil War soldier who died in Newton, Kansas in 1911 at the age of 67. What incredible obstacles some have had to overcome.

Within most people, there is a basic desire to learn the events of their family's history. The fortunate ones get to experience those moments of discovery. As Gordon Lightfoot wrote, "to know the wherefore and the why."

Hello Larry,

It was my honor to leave your Dad a memorial token. It was amazing to read the story of his life. He sounds like someone I would have been proud to know and call a friend. Take care. Frank

RE: Francis Fincher 1765-1846
Larry, Hello Cousin!
I have over 100 Finchers on my Ancestry Tree larrytaylor196. Always looking for more. My Great Great Grandmother is Sarah Viola Fincher Cota #66103872. (1871-1932) I did not find your Francis Fincher on Find a Grave. If you know where he is buried, please set up a memorial. Every little bit of knowledge is important.
Many Blessings!
Rev. Larry

Ernest Wilson Barnes
Larry, i noticed some ? in the short biography, is this your story or did someone compose it for you.
This might help, Gladys Moore was married to my grandfather Ira Allen Conner, he was killed in an automobile accident in Los Angles in 1942. They had two children Ira Wesley Conner and Hazel Conner. This is a very confusing and sad rest of the story here, but i will not bore you with more details. Just to let you know that Ernest adopted Hazel and Ira Wesley, after he married Gladys. Hope that clears up your "?" by Hazel's name. Took me a long time to find them.

grandaughter of Ira Allen Conner by first wife

RE: Armpha E. Dowell
I am from the Micajah, Littleberry, James Riley, & Oscar Dowell line. I don't have a lot on his line. I have heard my Dad speak of his family when he was telling me all the names in the family as to who married whom. I found it very interesting. I met Mary Richard Dowell, she was a character for sure.

Nixons in Sumner Co., KS
Thank you for the offer to transfer Nixons that are my family to me. John Nixon and Jane Crone Nixon came from England to the US in 1860 and after some moving around settled in Sumner County with their 8 children. Most of those in Sumner County cemeteries are related to me in one way or another - some directly, some as siblings of direct line. There are several of us who are Nixon descendants who pull information from findagrave regularly and I'd hate to take over a relative who had a more direct line to one of the other cousins, so if you can stand us asking you to link all these folks, that's wonderful. Since none of us live there, we really appreciate that you've taken the time to record this family.
