Keller/Shugars Genealogy
Is there a Rachael Keller, who married Jacob Shugars 1803-1876 on October 18,1826, in your tree and have you come across her burial place? ( Berks or Columbia counties) She was his first wife and carried our line; don't know if she died or they divorced. Please advise and thank you!

RE: Janet Boyd - East End Cemetery
Dr. Randolph Chitwood did a complete assessment of the cemetery in 1978. I add this memorial from his findings in an attempt to make Find A Grave for East End Cemetery as complete as possible.

Happy Hunting,

Yes, I would guess that there isn't one or it has been broken off. The cemetery has suffered vandalism also.

Janet Boyd - East End Cemetery
I noticed you have a request for East End cemetery & I wanted to let you know that James Archer was a key photographer at this cemetery. He has posted all headstone photos that are available and legible.

RE: Duplicate Cemetery Listing
Still nothing back from a Find A Grave administrator. Will see if I can figure it out again one day next week. Since the memorials are so precise, I looked to see if there were a numbering system for the cemeteries. Would make them easier to identify. Didn't find anything, however. Will try to explore some more. - Anne

RE: Duplicate Cemetery Listing
Andy - I just tried without success to find the message I thought I sent to Find A Grave. My guess is that it never got sent because I didn't understand how the system worked. Do you know how to do it? Could you send in the info to correct the name to be the Bland Massie Cemetery and the location to Tyro/Nelson County? - Anne

RE: Duplicate Cemetery Listing
Hi, Andy. Thanks for doing all this detective work. You are correct that I have no entries in the cemeteries - just discovered the discrepancies when researching the family. (I am a Steptoe descendant and there was an early Steptoe-Massie marriage.)

What Find A Grave is calling the Massie Family Cemetery in Nelson County is called:

1 - Massie/Campbell Family Cemetery (location not noted) in the obit of Lorene Wood Massie #105756334

2 - Massie Family Cemetery in Tyro in the obit of Florence Massie Morton #162267243

3 - Cash/Campbell/Massey [sic] Cemetery in Roseland in the obit of George Washington Cash #93207614

All of these obits are posted with the respective memorials. Obviously, there is no generally-accepted name for the cemetery.

I will send a cancellation to Find A Grave suggesting they use the terminology of the Nelson County Cemetery book and give more detailed information about the cemetery location.

Thanks again. - Anne

RE: Duplicate Cemetery Listing
Hello, Andy. Thanks for your response. Just this afternoon I sent a message to Find A Grave that I hope went to the right place to let them know about the duplication. I think it may be easier for them to combine the two cemeteries because numerous people have made contributions to the one where your entry is.

Your entry is #48437583 at the Level Green Estate Cemetery, Roseland, Nelson County, VA. (You have several photos there.)

The duplicate cemetery is the Massie Family Cemetery, Nelson County, VA. One of the listings there is #162267243, Florence Tunstall Massie Morton. She is the granddaughter of your #48437583, Maria Catharine Effinger Massie.

If Find A Grave does combine the cemeteries, I don't know which name they will keep. Besides the duplicate Massie Family Cemetery, there are other "Massie Family Cemeteries" in Virginia including yet another one in Nelson County at Lowesville. The Massies buried there, however, are not related to those buried at Level Green.

Before you do anything, let's see what Find A Grave's response is to my message. It would be much simpler all around if they can combine the two cemeteries.

On another subject entirely, I looked at your overall entries on Find A Grave. The numbers are impressive! I did find some additional people you have entered twice. I'm a Manson descendant which is the reason I noticed that -

John Gordon Cole [Sr] 1897-1975 and his wife Sallie Manson Cole 1904-2002 are in both Bethel Cemetery, Nottoway County, VA, and Lakeview Cemetery, Blackstone, Nottoway County, VA. I'm sure the cemeteries are the same but I don't know which is the correct name. Also duplicated is their son Waverly Manson Cole 1929-2009. Are other people duplicated as well?

Have fun! - Anne
