"In all of us, there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage - to know who we are and where we came from.
Without this enriching knowledge, we are left with a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, without the sure knowledge of our provenance, this yearning yields to an emptiness, a vacuum and the most disquieting loneliness."
LEVI BRADBERRY FYI Most likely he is one of unmarked graves in Bradberry Cemetery in edge of Clarke county GA. This was originally Jackson county GA but fell into Clarke when lines were redrawn. The cemetery is on land once owned by Bradberry family. Ann
RE: Family Tree Online? Hi John....I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable about DNA and my research isn't that extensive. I do have the beginnings of a family tree on ancestry.com. It's under McLeod-Remerow Family Tree. I don't know of any ancestors or relatives in the SC area but I know some were in NC. Do you have a tree? Maybe I could take a look at it and see if any names sound familiar. If you would like to contact me directly, my email address is: email@example.com
Elias Martin 1760 of Marion, SC Hello, I decided to move Elias (brother of Matthew Martin) to Harrington Cemetery, Marion, SC. It would make sense they would be buried at the same cemetery. Elias Martin is my GGGG-grandfather through his son Moses Martin (buried at Allen-Shelley Cemetery). Please give me your thoughts & have a blessed evening.
RE: Douglas Powell Sr. Thank you for this information. We seem to be at the brick wall with infomation on John H. Powell's father. His is mentioned in the Powell Families book by Lucas, but not in name, only referenced to. I think I am going to Edgefield, SC to see if I can find any reference to him. Difficult without a name. Thanks again for the information about the DNA Project. Unfortunately the DNA stops with my father as he only had girls.
Douglas Powell Sr. I am trying to find proof that this Douglas Powell is the father of John Hawthorn Powell, Sr. of Edgefield,SC and is a Revolutionary War Patriot. Do you have any knowledge or proof that this is the right person. Many entries on Ancestry and Family Search include the names but no proof. Thank you, Sondra Powell Cadenhead
RE: Matthew Martin Yes you can use my name if you'd like. My Moses Martin b. 1780 is listed as being the son of Elias Martin b. about 1760. Sounds like he could be the son of Moses, Sr. & if so please let me know if you find out anything. Thanks for the info on Matthew & Moses.
RE: Matthew Martin Matthew, I am more than willing to work with you on this. I've heard Moses Martin might be buried at Shelley Cemetery in between Ariel & Gal. Ferry (Marion side), but not sure. CAn't rememeber who told me that but not sure. There are many unmarked graves at both locations. Keep me informed please of what you find out. Thanks bunches!
