Thank you so much to those who have left memorials, flowers and kind words for my loved ones. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. For many years I've been an avid genealogist. Having sites like this and ancestry.com has enabled me to dig up information on almost every side of my family tree, learning things I'd never have known as well as meeting distant family members who would otherwise have remained unknown. It's an adventure I enjoy for myself as well as sharing what I know with others who are also searching for their roots. | |

 | RE: Con. Schlegel-Sidney, NE Boot Hill I don't know anything more than what was listed on the signs at Boot Hill Cemetery. I understand that information was gathered by volunteers from courthouse records, newspapers, and the library. You might want to stop by for a look. Come on out I76 to Sterling, and then to Sidney, about 40 miles more. BTW, my first roommate at C.U. was a Schlegel. | | | Phil & Kathi

 | RE: Lundberg Transfer I photographed the entire Milltown cemetery this spring and have been slowly adding the names and photos here. I updated both memorials with the photos I took and have transferred to you. I enjoy seeing these memorials adopted by family.

 | RE: Horse Thieves! That was very interesting, I had thought that happened in Pawnee City! If you have better photos of the "slab" grave, feel free to add them for Unknown! I just have a cheap camera, sure wish we could figure out the writing, amazing that anything remains today! I read the story about the guy killed by the Indian also, the person I talked too said he was at a saloon when he got shot, but the stone has that anyway! Thanks for sending the link! | RE: Horse Thieves! Tim, I have added them under, Unknown I think. May be another one, I had never heard that story. One said that it was a Pioneer family moving through and the wife died and her husband buried her there, but a more reliable story was by a fellow that got the story from somebody that recalled that it was a family wife of the mill owner. This is just what I'm recalling without looking at my entry, best if you can check it for what I had found! It is a fasinating grave site! The one close with the story of the shoot out, they claim was not true when checked out, can't remember the details on that one eitherwithout looking back at it. | | | | [View all messages...] |
