I am the historian for one of my ancestral families, the descendants of Alexander Wilson and Jane (Armour) Wilson, who immigrated to America from Scotland around 1740. Their descendants established The Wilson Association in 1903, and adopted a Constitution and Bylaws in 1906. The family has met at a family reunion every year since 1903.

Other family names include Linn/Lynn, Mahl, Strassburg, Heuer, Cooke/Cook, Smoyer, Ortt, Dennis, Cole, Newman, Davenport, and too many more to list here.

A Note About My Marker Photos:

I intend to provide photos of the markers of deceased individuals, not to invade the privacy of living ones. I obscure any information about living individuals in the photos that I post. I do not try to hide the fact that information has been erased, and the captions state that information was removed. If you would like a copy of any of my photos with the full information for your genealogy or because the person is a family member, please let me know.

You may use my photos without permission. It would be nice to see a credit line on them when I find them on other websites. In many cases I have a higher resolution shot which I can send you if you ask.

Update on Saint Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Newfane, Niagara, NY, USA:

As of 29 Jan 2016, I have finished uploading all of the photos I took in this cemetery during the summer of 2015. There are five Memorials for which I did not find a marker. They are:

Lawrence Budnack,

Francisco "Frank" Dudek,

James Alfred Gratto,

Timothy John Gratto, and

Donna Marie "Wert" (Wertman) Hopkins.

The photos are, as far as I know, up to date as of 23 Aug 2015. Anyone buried in St Charles after that date will not be reflected in my photos.

Update on Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Town of Royalton, Niagara, NY, USA:

As of 18 Apr 2016, I've finished uploading all of the marker photos I took last summer for which I've been able to decipher identifying information. I still have roughly 100 photos of markers that are either fallen on their faces, severely broken, missing, or otherwise illegible. I will continue working to try to identify those markers.

My marker photos were all taken prior to 28 Sep 2015. If you know anyone who has been buried in Mountain Ridge since then, please let me know and I will try to get a marker photo. With a cemetery this size, just looking around isn't going to be the best way to identify new burials.

I am still working on posting additional information and making family links. If you know any of these families, and can help with that task, I would greatly appreciate the assistance. Also, please do not hesitate to request a transfer if any of these folks are your family, or even your friends. I am liberal in responding to transfer requests.

Update on Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson, Niagara, NY, USA:

Because I am working on a database for Greenwood Cemetery as well as on find-a-grave, posting of marker photos has been slow. If you have family members for whom you would like photos, please let me know, and I will give priority to them.

As of 1 Jul 2016, I've decided to concentrate on posting marker photos, and then come back and do research. I realized that if I continued doing the research as I went along, some of the photos might be two years old before they're up!

I really appreciate all of the information find-a-grave folks have provided on people in Greenwood. It is enormously helpful to have input from the family.

I firmly believe that memorials should be managed by someone who knows the folks. If you would like to manage any of my memorials, please feel free to ask. The worst that can happen is that I'll say no because the person is my close relative or I'm managing the memorial for someone who has asked me to. The best is that folks will get to "go home" to family or friends. Doing research on these folks is my way of helping them find their way home.

Gordon Peters (Mountain Ridge)
I sent edits for dates, but wanted to let you know that Gordon Peters was born in Pamelia, Jefferson County, N.Y. Pamelia is near Fort Drum. It's not included on the drop down menu for Jefferson County.

Best Wishes always,

RE: Sophia Ortt
Oh, so sorry. I have no photos going back that far. I wish I could locate some photos of the family members who served in the Civil War--there are supposed to be so many. No luck there either. But I am fortunate that there are such extensive written histories about the Cuddabacks, so can't complain.

Hamblins Lakeview Cemetery 3 Requests
There are 2 Lakeview Cemeteries in Cayuga County New York. One is in Flemming and the other is in Cayuga. Hallett, Thankful and Freeman Hamblin are buried in the Cayuga, NY cemetery but listed at the Flemming NY cemetery. If you would like to make new ones for Cayuga, I can upload the photos. Let me know if I can be of any further help.

RE: Sophia Ortt
Hi Kathy
Yes, I am a relative of Sophia Cuddaback. She was the daughter of John Seybolt Cuddaback, brother of Lydia Cuddaback who was my great, great grandmother. (Note that the spellings for Cuddaback and Seybolt had several variations.)Unfortunately, I haven't found the gravesites for John and his wife Abigail, so haven't been able to show that on Sophia's memorial.

I always enjoy getting some feedback for postings on Find A Grave. We just keep trying to connect the family lines for others to follow.
Thanks, Barbara

RE: Hester, reprise
Yes, everything looks good. :-)

Hester would be a distant in-law of mine. I first noticed her when another contributor asked me to link her brother to their parents. (I found his grave when I was looking for a great-great uncle of mine and took a photo of it just because of the last name.)

Thank you for your quick response and for all of the good work that you do!

Best wishes,

Kathy, I've worked on this for too long now and have decided to transfer this memorial to you to fix. I may never get it right. I hope you don't mind. Good luck.

RE: Jacob and Elizabeth Keebler
Happy 4th to you also.

I accept edits no matter how minor and if you would like a transfer I am always happy to reunite families.

Good Luck on your family search
