I joined FAG while searching for my own ancestors. Occasionally I will spend time photographing other headstones in sections to upload to the site and to create memorials for those who are buried in the group but somehow were missed in making a memorial. When I was a child I lived across from a cemetery and would go play in it and bring flowers to the deceased that never seemed to have family members visit them. I believe all cemeteries should be protected and graves never tossed aside just so the land can be reassigned a new use. It is disturbing to hear that some care takers and even city officials think tossing aside a broken headstone or moving it altogether is ok. It is a final resting place of a person and should remain the final place. |

Thanks for the note regarding the cemetery's policy on taking photos. I would have surely walked in and asked for help to locate a burial. Hopefully, it wont be too difficult finding loved ones for others.

I would be happy to transfer Ms. Brewer's memorial to you, if you would like. Just let me know.

Coni, I live in Corona and used to be available to photograph Headstones at Sunnyslope, but like you know they are the worst, I have found the below link and am trying to message the people that are requesting photos, I have also quoted your response to requests if you don't mind.
Sunnyslope has the worst property management team there and must hate Genealogy, because like the person trying to fulfill your picture request said, "Manager of cemetery states for privacy of family they refuse to allow persons to photograph the headstones even when requested on the Find A Grave site. Requires proof of family relationship be faxed to office then they will allow the family member to come and take photo. Refuses to tell me where anyone is buried specifically."
But the Corona genealogy society did a walk and had documented, photographed and made a book of results.
Here is the link to the page on that page is a link to request pictures.

Thanks for letting us know about the cemetery's policy. I guess they have their reasons. It is California--I used to live there.

Thank you for trying to get a headstone photo for Marsha Woods. It seems more cemeteries are putting restrictions on giving information about burial sites. I appreciate you taking time to do this for me.
Thank you for taking the time to attempt a photo of my family member's grave stone.
I makes no sense for the cemetery to ask for proof of lineage to be faxed, then only the family member can photograph the stone. Ridiculous.
I am quite a ways from where they are buried, he and his wife. I am related to Hallie, she is my Great Grandmother's sister. Sad that some of the cemeteries don't understand how FG works. Thank you for your efforts again. I will just let it go as I have no family there there.

Thank you very much for trying to get a photo of his grave.
I understand the problem, I can't fix that, I am not related.
I just wanted to honor him the proper way, but thank you very much for take the time to try !
Hello again Coni,
I guess I should have looked at the cemetery description as it has something like what they told you listed in their description. I am so sorry for sending you. I normally do not look at that but I will from now.

Thank you so much for trying to get the cemetery marker for Sal. I appreciate you doing this. I did not know the cemetery was so hateful, so sorry for you to go through this. I still appreciate you!
Rob Blew (YankeeGraver)
PS. wonder if this should be listed in the cemetery description so others won't experience the same treatment.

No, Coni, I did not know all that about your fascinating great aunt! :) Thanks for sharing that information. Imagine all that history wrapped up in one ancestor! I'm glad I was able to fill in a little bit for you and provide you with a current photo. Wishing you continued success with your ancestral research. ~Maureen
