Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started doing genealogy back in the early 1980's, researching the Jewett (my mothers' maiden name) Family in the Wright County, Minnesota area. That was back before the computer, when it was door to door, phone calls, or US mail. I gathered 18 notebooks full of information and now am slowly getting that information listed on
I started back on my family research in February 2011 after retiring in January of that year.
Unfortunatly, most of the people I talked to back in the 1980's can now only be found on Find A Grave.
To any of you doing family research, I suggest you get to the oldest family members first and get as much information as you can before it is lost to time. Some of their stories (not always true) are interesting and more importantly, informative to your research.
Since starting back up this year, I have made some awesome discoveries thanks to the web. Lots of it I would have never found had it not been for the internet.
Find A Grave is an awesome site, people helping people. I can't say enough good things about it.
I live near the little town of Nimrod, Minnesota in Wadena County located in west central Minnesota. I used to travel the whole northeastern part of the state in my work and drove past many cemeteries, not ever knowing what I was missing out on. Maybe that's a good thing, I would have never got my work done!
To all of you who have helped me, I thank you sincerely and will do my best to help as many folks as I can in their research.
If you are interested in a transfer on any of the graves I have entered, I will gladly do a transfer as long as they aren't in my family line. It does not matter to me how distantly they are related to you, if they tie in to your lines somewhere down the road, I'll gladly transfer them.

You may use them on, please be nice and give credit.

I am working on several cemeteries trying to fill in as much information as possible and trying to make as many links as possible. I therefore am sending out a lot of correction requests. If you don't want, or don't know how to make the corrections, please just transfer the memorial to me with a note you want it back and I will make the corrections and additions and transfer it back to you.

RE: John Solberg
No need to transfer back - you obviously knew him and I didn't so I would much rather leave his memorial in your care.

Harley Harwood #132650017
You have listed a Harley Harwood b. 1854 with no death date, but have him living in Wenatchee, WA at the time of the 1930 census which was dated April 1930 and that he wasn't listed in the 1940 census.

IO have a photo request for Harley Harwood in Wenatchee City Cemetery, but the cemetery office has no record of him. There is a Washington Deaths, 1883-1960 record for a Harley Harwood who died at 76 yr. on 24 Nov 1930 in Monroe, Snohomish, WA with father listed as Sam and mother listed as Nancy Lewis.

Why did you think he was buried in Wenatchee City Cemetery? I'm just trying to straighten out the records.

Enhanced memorials
Thanks, it's a wonderful job that you do. I just wish that there was a mechanism where I would be notified.
best to you.

John Hoffman
I see that in July, you requested edits to my memorial page for John Hoffman. I was NEVER notified by Find A Grave of your request. I just stumbled on a page that shows my edits as requested by others. I have never seen any of them, yet they have all been approved by me. I am astounded. I have gotten edit requests, but they have all been accompanied by personal emails. I don't understand the logistics of this and I find it rather annoying as I would have gladly made the requested changes. I now see the results of your work and that of others on John Hoffman's page. I like it all. I made the page as a RAOGK and have no ties to John except quite obliquely. Would you like to adopt the memorial page?

RE: Surname changing from Tills to Tils

Here is a statement that I sent another Find A Grave member. "Human errors are everywhere, on tombstones, obituaries, family records, church records, and government records." The older the government record the more chance for error, because sometimes they would write the name how it sounded to the recorder. I have seen some official courthouse records in a good sized city, sorry not a hick town, that you could not even tell from the name who it actually was. Years later, they actually created a new delayed record for that person rather than correct the original record. I told the county official about it, but they wouldn't do anything because they require money to change the record plus verification.

Surname changing from Tills to Tils
All the descendants are spelled with the double l not a single l, one of which lives only 30 miles from me. This is not unsimilar to other names with double consonants like Zimmermann which is the German spelling. Oodles of names like this.

Hi Jim! I will transfer to you the memorial and you can add the info directly. Yes, I do add anything to the biography section sent to me as it is informational and a help to other researchers.

Have a great and tremendous day!
