A people who takes no pride in the achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered by remote descendants.
Thomas B. Macauley
My home is Alabama, always will be no matter where we live. Being an only child and losing my Dad at 8, I never knew much about his family.
Researching the following Surnames:
Amberson, Ayers, Brockman. Decker, Ganey, Gober, Gilley, Gazaway/Gassaway, Gunnels, Hardwick/ Hartwick, McMillen, Pendergrass, Rogers, Stewart, Turner, Westbrook, Wortham.
I grew up with Decoration Day (2nd Sunday in May)going to all the cemeteries were the family was and the last one was Dad's grave in Oneonta, Alabama. Visiting the family plot and placing roses on all the graves. Mom would work on them for days.
Afterwards, we would go to "Little Joe's" restaurant and have dinner, they served "Family Style". For those in other areas of the country this is like sitting down at grandma's house with bowls of food set on the table and everyone shares.
Some of my most wonderful memories are setting around talking to the family about all the grandparents, where they lived, what was their name, and stories.
I miss going to the cemeteries and finding a new aunt, uncle, cousin….etc. FAG helps to fill that place in my heart.
Please submit any additions or corrections to me under "EDIT" and "SUGGEST A CORRECTION" on the memorial site.
I will be happy to add any information and relationship links for you, please furnish appropriate link numbers.
I will transfer memorials of your ancestors unless they are also my ancestors. (maybe then we can negotiate)
If you have something that needs attention in a timely manner please email me.

Thanks for the transfer of Alma to me. I really appreciate the transfer. She was a blessing to our family. My in-laws always took care of her and James, her son. And after she passed my husband took care of James. James was a special needs person. They are both truly missed.

I just want to thank you for posting/sharing all the family photos. My mother's paternal grandmother was Dollie Tolitha Westbrook. I love the work you shared so freely.

I just made the link from John to his father. Thanks for the information. Yes, it is fun to get this all together. Thanks for all your work and help!

I linked her to her mother. Sure would like to know about her dad. I knew half of Texana's children; wish they were still alive to ask where he is buried.

I'm not sure how this works, but these people are my great grandparents and I would like to see if you could transfer them to me. The numbers are #108666697 & #108666677. Also my sisters ashes are spread on their graves so it's very important to me.
