PAY IT FORWARD

It is my hope that every memorial I create will one day be managed by a family member or friend.

If you are related please ask for a transfer.

I welcome additions and corrections. Please don't add biographical information in the "flowers" section. Use the edit key and I will update the memorial.

RE: Stealey
Pretty amazing, isn't it? There must be a family historian out there someplace. I did contact a Find A Grave contributor who listed her father Thomas Stealey (1919-2009) born in San Francisco to see if they are related. He's buried in Chico. Adrine is a local historian in Butte County. That would be too perfect if she's related.

RE: Stealey
It's pretty amazing. We have Mary's official membership document showing that she's a member of the California Chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. According to the personal papers in the box, she arrived in San Francisco with 2 slaves. Thomas was a member of the old San Francisco "Vigilance Committee." Sounds like they were some couple. :o)

RE: Stealey
Janet. You are awesome! I thought I was the only one who went on tangents only I call them treasure hunts! LOL

No I didn't ask for the link because I wasn't sure about the other Thomas. If you wouldn't mind requesting the link that would be wonderful.

I got sidetracked because I think I found the link to our box of photos/docs. Looks like Edwin's father-in-law was a Calaveras County Sheriff.

Such fun. Thank you so much. Phyllis

RE: Thomas Stealey
Hi Janet - I understand completely on placing him where he was initial interred. Have you located his wife, Mary? She died in Sausalito in Feb of 1921. The name of the children are listed. Let me know if you would like to add them to Thomas' obit.

Amazing that you mention photos. I'm a member of the Calaveras County Genealogy Society. One of our Board members recently purchased at a yard sale of box of Stealey photos and documents, and we too are trying to find relatives. At the moment some of the collection is on display in a glass case in the Calaveras County Library in San Andreas.

Please let us know (calaverasgenealogy "dot" com) if you locate a relative and visa versa. Regards, Phyllis

Thank you so much! I'm not related, but happen to learn about this cemetery when I volunteered to take a picture. It's located in the same town I live in and had not been posted at FindaAGrave. I added it and several memorials that day. I'm sure a family member will appreciate it if they ever search.

RE: Gisen
Janet, thank you so much for the photo... because of the photo I now know where her husband is buried. AND you added him also to the site! Thank You... he is related to my wife's family tree. I have suggested a couple of updates for him, and done a link to his first wife.

Spence
