 | RE: Eugene Holliday I am so happy to hear that. I am very into Genealogy and it makes me happy to add a small piece to a families ancestry. You can get copies of their death certs. from the LA County Registrar/Recorder for $14.00 each.
Respectfully,

 | Sherman's March to the Sea Sorry about the incorrect reference before - I meant that the plantation was destroyed during Sherman's March to the Sea... | | | Dawn Holliday-Mack
 | Descendent of Mary Holliday (and Robert) through Abram Hi MA,
I'm so excited! I tried for years to make contact with anyone who could shed some light on our branch of the Holliday family tree.
I am a descendent of Abram Holliday, the baby boy of Mary (and Robert - we never knew his last name and always believed it was Holliday). From our oral history, Mary was a slave of Robert's family and fathered many children by him, all of whom Robert registered as free upon birth. Robert was enlisted in the Civil War and left (and we believed, died in battle). Robert tried to send word back to the plantation regarding General Lee's approach, and the messenger left word with Annie, one of Robert and Mary's children, but she was much too young to convey the information. The plantation and most records were burned to the ground. The family was scattered after them. Mary appears in a census later with Abram. That is all the info that we have, along with scattered records in a family bible.
Would love to get in touch with you to see if we can pieces any other parts together - please let me know if any of this matches with your records.
Thanks,

 | Della Holliday I found her death certificate on Ancestry.com It states she was born 6-19-1860 and died 3-9-1926 in Fayetteville. Her father was William Taylor, Mother was Mary Brewington States she died of pneumonia and is buried in Fayetteville. Rogers & Bruce Funeral Home handled the funeral. I can mail you a copy of the cert. if you like. Contact me via e mail.Added by P. Bible on Sep 27, 2009 10:34 AM | | | Shannon Walters Jacobson
 | RE: Edward Holliday and Franklin Halladay MA, I have been to the library to look at the cemetery transcription for Brookside and I do not see Eugene, Alice or Della listed on it anywhere. I also have been to the cemetery a few times and the only thing I saw that was interesting was beside Franklin is a plot and the stone is missing. This picture:

This could have been one of them buried there. I have found nothing that mentions where those three are buried but I do look when I go to the library. | | | | [View all messages...] |
