If I have prepared a memorial for your immediate family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Suggest a Correction link located by clicking the Edit tab in the upper right hand corner of each memorial. In your message, please state your relationship to the deceased. I will consider distant family members, friends and totally unrelated people if you have something to contribute which I have not done already. |
Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the Suggest a Correction link. I appreciate people helping me fix my errors. Also please send any additional information you have (including Family Links) and I will add it to the memorial. Find A Grave gives 30 days to make changes, but I try to get it done quicker than that. If you don't hear back from me within 3 weeks, please feel free to ask again.
Thanks to all who flower any of the memorials which I created, but especially my parents.
I love Find A Grave and I especially enjoy adding photos to memorials so that family members can visit their family member's graves at anytime. However, I ask that you respect my efforts. Please, do NOT copy my photos to ancestry.com without giving me credit. Simply indicate © 2006-2014 J.Sullivan on Find A Grave. I'd appreciate a note letting me know you have copied them. However, do NOT post them to other Find A Grave memorials. Just let me know and I will upload them. If you want to use them for commercial purposes or to create your own web site, that is not allowed under any circumstances. However, it is okay with me for you to post my photos of your friends and families headstones on Facebook as long as you link it back to the Find A Grave memorial. Please note that other members may have different opinions on this and you should honor their wishes. It is illegal to copy a photo without the photographer's consent.

Important admin notices posted in the forums:
Per Mark, the admin:
1. Location of body unknown should be used for recent deaths where the disposition is not currently known. You should however make every effort to locate the final disposition and update it as soon as possible.
2. See part 1. Not everyone in my direct family has been located and thus none of them are linked. I make notes in bios of those who have known locations. Such as "Son of X and Y" or "Also father of X". What I do is look for new listings and ask for updates when a generous member has finally found a missing relative.
3. No duplicates are allowed. Period.
This is Find A Grave and long-term unknown dispositions solely for the purpose of creating family links is outside the main intent of the website.
Per AJ, the admin:
Photograph the grave/gravesite "in-situ", or as it appears in that moment in time. The purpose is to show the grave as it is, be it dirty, cluttered, broken, or pristine. It is not your job to clean it, clear it, fix it, or decorate it. The graves are not yours to do as you please. Remember, one person's "good deed" just might be another person's vandalism. Go take lots of photos...but do it like an anthropologist and do not disturb the grave site.
Note for self, this is a link I might need to know how to make one day:

We have located a sibling for Griffin Wheat.
Perhaps the written mention of her on his memorial will help someone connect the dots.
Her name is Martha A. (Wheat) McCain.
She is listed on the Missouri Death Certificate of her son, Levi McCain (memorial #111292942).
Martha A. Wheat married David McCain and they are the parents of Levi McCain buried here in Missouri.
That is all that I know. Except, I keep chasing
Shirley ancestors back to Kentucky.

I am a new member of find a grave. I just looked up my Father Forrest Bowen of Stilesville IN cemetery. If I understand this you created his site. I will add to it when I have a few minutes. Thank you.

I have not found Al Sullivan's name in the Blair Book. Do you have that book? It has helped me very much in searching for people.

Thank you for posting the Memorial for Carol.
Thousands of us owe her a debt of gratitude.
However her passing has created a vast void. Many times changes or additions are needed to her many postings. Would you know who has taken up this Herculaneum task ? Many have asked me. I'm hoping you may know. Thanks and take good care

I am a descendant of James and Nancy Day Blair through Emily Blair. I would very much like to know which of Emily's brothers or sister that your family is from.
The Blair Cemetery is not far from my home.
|Carin L Baxley||Dickerson Cemetery, Hendricks County, Indiana|
First, I want to say thank you for photographing the graves in the Dickerson Cemetery. I've been to Hendricks County many times and have even gone to look for this cemetery but when I did the owners of the property weren't home. I didn't feel right going on private property and wasn't sure where I was supposed to look any way. So, thank you for doing mine and I'm sure countless other peoples' work easy for them.
2nd, I know that not all of the headstones have been photographed and that some are unreadable. In your visits to this cemetery did you happen to see any headstones that may have the surname BALES? (I noticed that there is a Bales/Parsons headstone.) The reason I ask is that a daughter of Andrew DICKERSON married James William BALES in 1852 in Hendricks County and then they both just disappear from the face of the earth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
