Bio and Links
Bio Photo NOTE: As of March 2015, I've made it through surgery and chemotherapy, and the cancer seems to be gone. I'm very hopeful, and very appreciative of all the words of kindness and encouragement.

As of August 2014, I'm dealing with my mother's recent death and my own recent cancer diagnosis. Please be patient with any suggestions / edits you send. Thanks in advance!

[PLEASE read (starting with para. 2) before contacting me about a memorial; it will save us both time and trouble. Thanks!]

I'm a history major and a lawyer (University of Virginia, Emory University;) a fanatic about live music (Todd Rundgren, Gene Owens, the blues;) and a photographer. I'm a wife and a mother (a son who recently graduated from law school at the University of Georgia and a daughter who recently graduated from Tulane.) I have a house full of rescued dogs and cats.

If I'm the caretaker of a memorial for someone who was closer to you than to me, I'll consider transferring that memorial to you; feel free to ask, but please include DETAILS as to your relationship to the deceased.

If you have additional information or links that you want added to a memorial, please send details and DO include links to your SOURCES: I'm unlikely to make additions/links if I can't verify their accuracy

All requests for transfers, all suggestions, and all corrections MUST be sent via the edit tab on the memorial in question. If you use the "Other" option you'll be able to send an explanation of, and links to, your sources for suggested changes to a memorial.

If you need to write me at my email address about something else (e.g., a suggestion or correction I've sent you,) PLEASE include a copy of any relevant correspondence and a link to the memorial(s) in question.

If I've posted a cemetery photograph that you want to use on Ancestry, please feel free to do so IF and ONLY IF you include the entire caption as the photograph description. You MUST get my express permission to use any of my photographs OTHER than those taken in cemeteries.

Ellen, the reason for changing his middle name is the 1910 Census has it as Lincoln Ambrose--every record I find is either Lincoln Ambrose or Lincoln A. not Lincoln L.

Hi Ellen, I just wanted to repeat to you that any and all Edits I have submitted--my info. is always found at digitalarchives.wa.gov
I don't agree much with paying for information that should be free.
Hoping that you will continue to accept my Edits, Sue

Just a period
Hi Ellen, Per Find A Grave rules "Use a period after names when only the initial is known."

I will be submitting many Edits for "just a period" and hope you will accept them. Thanks Sue

Wilkes Family Plots
Hi Ellen, the Wilkes family you have listed:

Moultrie
Colquitt County
Georgia, USA
Plot: Lane EN RR; Section 4, Block F, Lot 8 (4 F 8 EN RR)

In connection to this memorial 98118079, are my family members and I would like to 1. help give names to those who're missing, I have all of our family records to help assist in the and 2. Manage their memorials so I can edit and correct information, such as linking parents to children, etc. My Mother is Rhonda Polk, her mother was Patsy Wilkes, who's father was Jesse Lee Wilkes Sr. and Fay Belle was his great aunt. Alice Wilkes is Fay Belle's mother, Alice M. Wingate (Wilkes).

I've love to correct all of the information and connect them to our other family members. :)

Maggie Rail data
I see you have added memorials from the data provided by Maggie Rail. Did you get her permission to do this? I am from Washington State and have done many cemeteries here for Find a Grave. I have found errors in Maggie's work as I am sure there are some in mine. I emailed her once with praise for all the work she had done when I started doing Find a Grave work and she was LIVID that people were using her work on f-a-g. It has been said that she has incorporated some 'errors' thru her records that will show up in multiple cemeteries showing that her work was used.
Do you have a connection to the Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane WA?
It is an old cemetery, as old as our's out West go, and there is slow work on entry. I am working on one of the other three large cemeteries here, Fairmount and some in Riverside Memorial Park. It is a slow process, but we hope to eventually have all of the entries completed online. I appreciate your diligence in accuracy of the records but you might consider with us living here we may know things as we may have known the person or family when looking at your historical sources.
Just an FYI since you are so particular about your accuracy in records. Thank You for your work. Rosalie

Grave Photo - Seaborn Milligan
I would like to thank you so much for the grave photo of Seaborn Milligan!! I live north of Atlanta, and it would have been difficult for me to get it. It's so nice of you to take the trouble to do this for people you don't know.

Karle Deck
Hi Ellen,

My Grandafather was Ben Dech. Because the last name is engraved as DecK not DecH on Karle's headstone, I wrote to the cemetery months ago, to see if they could verify that Karle is indeed the son of "my" George and Katherine DecH and have not heard back from them. I would like this verified, before it is published. I never heard or have found anything to say that Karle is indeed related. There are multiple George and Katharine Dech's, Deck's. I will be removing him from my ancestry page until I can get confirmation from the cemetery--which might mean, I will have to take to trip to Spokane.

RE: New forums
Hope you got things sorted with the Facebook group.
The new forums are too sophisticated for this primitive phone. I can't post or do anything much, except Like things :(

RE: New forums
Oh no, surely not, now who's being paranoid! Hope it will be ok today.
I was wrong about the new forums not being much different. They make all other forums look very dated. I may need to ask some questions when I figure out how.
