Bio and Links
Bio Photo This photo was taken in 1968 as a high school student working on a tiny graveyard restoration project. My family genealogy has been an intense 14+ year study and has led me back to circa 1755 London. Many folks have been kind enough to assist me in the tedious but rewarding research project. Contributing to Find-A-Grave is my way of giving back and paying forward.

I believe that a memorial belongs with the family and loved ones to cherish and maintain. My mission is to be cooperative with others doing research and I am more than willing to transfer memorials I have created.
*** When photographing a memorial, I do not alter it's condition. I take them as I find them!

"I think most people can do a whole awful lot more if they just try, ... They just don't have the confidence that they can write a novel or they can write poetry or they can take pictures or paint or whatever, and so they don't do it, and they leave the planet dissatisfied with themselves."

In Virginia, and much of the south in the 1870's there was little money to go around, due to the war and a financial downturn. There-fore it is not unusual for Graves in that time to have no headstone

RE: Lawrence Monks
I'm sorry, Louise, but there were no other markers that I could find. As you can see, his stone was not in very good shape, and in the section there were quite a few that were not readable. However, there was no unreadable or damaged marker near his grave.

Charles Jackson
I am interested, because my daddy was Alex Jackson, referred to as Junior. I am wondering is this my daddy's brother Charles. There mother was Ida Bunnel Jackson and his daddy was Alexander Bert Jackson, sometimes spelled Elex.

Can you give me any information about Charles Jackson in Jackson Family Cemetery, Meherria, Virginia. It is located on SR 683 in Luneburg County.

RE: William Henry Ward
Louise,

I had time this evening to research a bit the B.E.Ward in the cemetery. If this were in my line he would be my gggrandfather. My research using census and family information shows my Benjamin E. to have been born in 1831 and died in 1877. He was married to Lucienda Bacon Crenshaw in 1853. The death date listed in the Ontario cemetery shows his death to be in 1904 which is quite a difference. But interesting that his wife name is similar. So the mystery grows. I can't help but wonder about the cemetery. Could you possibly provide directions? Thanks so much, Don Ward

RE: William Henry Ward
Louise,

Maybe but I don't believe it is the same. The Ward/Jeter cemetery I referenced contains more than 40 graves and is located near Rehoboth. There is 'sort of' a fence, one my family put around the cemetery using barbed wire a long time ago. I go there every now and then to cut the underbrush, the only way in is via a 4-wheel drive access road, dry weather only. It's about a mile from the nearest hard surface road.

Are there any marked graves in the one you asked about? I'd be happy to share whatever information I have.

Don

William Henry Ward
Good day,

Would you be so kind to transfer your grave entry for William Henry Ward to my responsibility. He is my ggrandfather. I still go to the Ward/Jeter cemetery where he, his wife and my grandfather are buried. It is located about 1 mile from the nearest road in forest land. About once a year my family & I go there to clean the cemetery and cut the underbrush. I also have researched my Ward family quite a bit in Virginia. I would very much appreciate you transferring this to me. I will be adding photos of their graves to their respective sites. I do have an account here on Find-A-Grave.

Thank you so much,

Don Ward

Charlie Edward Finch
I'm researching the Finch - Poarch line. I noticed the conflicting birth information that you shared on his Memorial Page. I have access to the death and military record through Ancestry that show the inconsistencies but I do not have the birth registration information. Is there a way you can provide me a copy and source citation for the birth registration? Thanks Yvonne

Greetings, I would be happy to have the Herndons at Cool Springs. It was very thoughtful of you to ask!
