RE: Agnes Hill
Sorry for the confusion.

This Agnes Hill is indeed on the back side of her husband's stone, and is the marker number that showed up in the request.

There is not another Agnes Hill listed on the Fort Snelling site, but I will check the back side of the stone for Robert Richard Hill, but I am not optimistic.

I get out there about once a week, so will let you know.

I just spoke to Holy Cross. I wanted to verify there was no headstone for several of the graves we photographed yesterday. I was told Section K has many unmarked graves. I asked if Joseph DeMeceli was in a paupers grave and was told yes. I was told he is buried with two other individuals to whom he is not related. It was a "mass" grave for those who could not pay. Apparently there are many graves similar to his in Section K. In my own genealogy I've discovered a few family members also being buried like Joseph. Markers are nice but the lack of one doesn't diminish someone's importance to all.

Knowing about section K only makes me feel more warmly towards that tucked away, steep hillside Section.

You're welcome.
My teenage son & I do this together and we are always disappointed when we don't find a marker. We have several family members buried out at Holy Cross, even a Great grandfather without a marker. Unfortunately Holy Cross isn't maintained very well at all. We tried to find the reference markers but most were under years of grass. We really believe the images of the grass area we photographed is where your loved one is.
Good luck in your research.

I noticed on your find a grave for Gary ytuarte, his stone lists a Margaret. WQho is that? Gary was married to my step daughter Laurie Bourassa.

Robert Hill
Hi, he has a very difficult stone to read and he sits partially in the shade. I will see if I can get a different photo on a different day.
