RE: Bio information on John Jacob Holzinger
Johann Georg (George) Holzinger, the father died in Yorktown Township, Henry County, Illinois according to his death certificate (Henry County, Illinois Death Certificates, v. I, p. 152) on 20 Jul 1887. The informant was George Holzinger, Jr., your ancestor. Johann Georg and Elizabeth Vetter were married 21 Jul 1839 in Broggingen, Germany, after his first wife Anna Kylius or Killius Holzinger died in 1837. You know about two of the children from the second marriage but there were several more. The oldest daughter Elizabeth married Lorenzo D. Chapman and moved to Nebraska. She was born in 1840. L. D. died in 1887 and is buried in Nebraska, but I am not sure what happened to Elizabeth after that. The next child was Catherine (1842-1929) who married John Wolf. She is buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hooppole, where her parents are buried. Martin Holzinger (1843-1900) married Magdalena Mathis. They and several of Magdalena's in-laws moved to California. He, his wife and their children are buried near San Luis Obispo, California. Two daughters died as young children. Anna Maria (1847-abt 1850) and Emma Clara (1849-1856) were both born in Germany but Anna died in Germany while Emma was buried in Hooppole. Magdalena Holzinger Ernst's oldest two children were named Anna and Emma, which I found interesting. I am not sure if you knew who your ancestor married. Her name was Elizabeth Lehman, and she was born in Lorraine Township, Henry County, Illinois in 1843 and died in 1909. They had 10 children. Good luck. Jean

RE: Bio information on John Jacob Holzinger
Hi Karen,

John Jacob Holzinger's death is indexed in the Illinois Statewide Death Index Certificate #0370184. Magdalena Holzinger Ernst was my great-great grandmother, so I have a copy of her obituary and death certificate. I believe she is in the above index. It is available free online through the State of Illinois Secretary of State website. Other records about the family are available free at familysearch.org, including your ancestor's baptismal and his mother's death records in Broggingen, Kr. Emmendingen, Freiburg, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Johann Georg Holzinger b. 1801 and his second wife Elizabeth Vetter Holzinger came to the U. S. in 1851 and 1852 to near Naperville, Illinois. They moved to Yorktown Township, Henry County, Illinois in 1854 or 1855 where both he and your ancestor bought farmland. Johann, Elizabeth and your ancestor and his wife are buried in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Hooppole, Illinois. There were more children in the second family, one daughter married and moved to Nebraska, another daughter is buried at Hooppole, a son moved to California and two daughters died as young children. I hope this helps. Jean Roller

I am trying to find parents for Daniel Dimmott/Dimmick/Demott Ward born 1804 in Prince Edward Island, Canada who married Margaret Full and then Harriet Newell Cooke. Could he be in your tree?

Joshua Shipley
I found Joshua Shipley's grave and have transferred the memorial to you. Find A Grave has also merged the duplicated Kewanee cemeteries into on.e

RE: Joshua Shipley
I have looked here on Find A Grave and see that there is a Kewanee Cemetery and an Old Kewanee that have been listed. They are the same cemetery. Someone made a duplicate cemetery entry. The two need to be merged into one but I don't know how to go about getting Find A Grave to do that. I did search some records on Ancestry.com and found that Joshua's son Isaac is buried in Old Kewanee cemetery so I bet that is where Joshua is buried.

Wm. Kackmeister
You requested a photo of William Kackmeister's stone and asked about the DOD of his wife Stella Mary Hill. I fulfilled your request for William, but there did not seem to be a stone for Stella. Sorry!
