Bio and Links
Bio Photo Some names of interest in my own family line include Lowther, Thistle, Milne, Henderson, Zirkle, Tedrow, Briix, and Blythe, my great-grandparents' names. My husband's family names include Doan, Corder, Dokken, Tangen, Goff, Allen and Peterson. Please send corrections/ updates; I want things to be accurate.

My grandmother, Wanda Zirkle Jilka, and great-aunt, Veda Zirkle Vickery, compiled a book commonly referred to as "The Red Book," "Zirkle Branches 1725-1978, Yesteryears and Yesterdays." There are several copies for sale if anyone is interested. It mainly outlines the history of two Zirkle/Zerkel branches which left VA, went to OH, then settled in Richland, Shawnee Co, KS.

"Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way." Blackfoot Quote

"A Visit to the Gravesite"

Dear Ancestor,
Your Tombstone stands among the rest,
Neglected and alone.
The name and dates are chiseled here,
On polished marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
Though it is too late to mourn.

You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you,
In flesh and blood and bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago,
I wonder if you could have known,
Would spread among the ones you left
In all the seeds you've sown.
I wonder how you lived and loved?
I wonder if you ever knew?
That someday I would find you in this spot,
And come to visit you?

Oscar F Pearcy
I think your memorial may be a duplicate for my memorial for my great grand uncle, Oscar F. Pearcy. His memorial number is 8060306. Everything matches except the death date which I believe you got from a book. I am sure my date is correct since it is listed on his grave marker and also in a family Bible as March 10, 1890. My Oscar F Pearcy is buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley, Sedgwick County, Kansas.

If you agree that your memorial is a duplicate, I thought you might want to correct your information or remove the duplicate memorial.

Thank you.

Ann M.

Fort Leavenworth
Hi Becky, I noticed that you've added several memorials to the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery and I'm wondering if you could share the source document with me. They were soldiers originally buried at Fort Larned. Any information you could provide would be helpful. Thanks as we try to tidy up this virtual cemetery. Mary Ann

Becky, An 1896 obit surfaced for Lyon County stating the man buried in Lower Dry Creek Cemetery. His wife died seven years earlier. There is no tombstone reading in this cemetery for man and his wife. Do you find him anywhere else in Lyon County? The obit has his birth location & other info correct. Makes me think there is no tombstone there for he & wife. Any help appreciated. Richard

RE: chester arthur boggs grave
hi! it seems that chester arthur boggs owned the property where the cemetery is. his property butted up against the oscar kazee property. oscar and ollie (wife of chester arthur ) were brother and sister. so, if chester owned the property then it would be called the bogg's cemetery. there are several different cemeteries in lawrence county, ky that have same names.for instance: my husband's family in buried in the castle at blaine. well there are several castle cemeteries in lawrence county, and i find that the castle cemetery in ulyssis has some of the people that are buried at blaine listed at the ulyssis castle cemetery, and i don"t know how to get that corrected. i couldn't find the listing for this cemetery on the internet. i'll keep trying to find it. the listing i have is:pfc harold boggs 1922-1944, chesster arthur boggs 1887-1960, ollie kazee boggs 1887-1972, clyde kazee 1903-1945, pollie kazee 1876-1918,m.f. kazee 1872-1950, elmer kenneth boggs 1916-1918,julina boggs 181-1914, nancy boggs 1866-1933, charley albert boggs 1892-1894, martha jane boggs 1835-1886, eliphus boggs 1833-1916, infant of eliphus and julina boggs no dates. hope this not too confusing and that it helps you. thanks. any more question, contact me. chris wheeler.

chester arthur boggs grave
chester arthur boggs is not buried in the parker-boggs cemetery on caines creek. he is buried in a cemetery located behind the old oscar kazee's home place on big laurel in lawrence county, ky. i have been there and copied his info and his wife's info from their grave stones. there are a few kazees' buried there and a few boggs. arthur boggs' son stacy married my husband's sister leanore wheeler. if you would like a list of the cemetery, i can send it to you. does carrie boggs have a tombstone in the parker boggs cemetery? she is my husband's aunt. her mother della boggs is the second wife of my husband's g.father marion harrison wheeler. you have her listed as dying september 24, 1958. that is incorrect. i do not have an exact death date for her, but she died between 1908 and 1910. her son ossie was born 1906. she had another son estell who died young and he is buried in the yatesville cemetery along with mother, della. marion remarried the third time to artie justice griffith in 1910. their first child was born july 2, 1911. could you tell me where you got the info on della's death date so i can look at it? della and marion did not divorce.also, you have a listing in the parker boggs cemetery for a martha osborne b.1865, d.1915. can you tell me who she was and who she was married to. my mother was an osborn and her people are buried in the osborn cemetery on little laurel in lawrence county,ky. i have the old listing of the osborn cemetery and info on marion wheeler, etc. if you are interested. my husband is harry wheeler and his father was lon wheeler son of marion wheeler and his first wife laura mckinney. if you would like any info, just contact me. you have my e-mail. thanks. also, you may find some have my husband as being deceased on dec. 15, 1985. not so. that is our marriage date and he is very much alive. he was born 1925 and will be 90 years old on may. 20, 2015. thanks, chris wheeler
