Silas Davenport
Dear Mr. Chanault,

Would you be willing to change the way Silas Davenport (Find A Grave Memorial# 5344740) is listed in Find A Grave to reflect how most people will spell "Silas" when looking him up?

We are working on a history of the deans of St. Matthew's Cathedral. I know the stone says "Sylas", but no one at the church ever used that spelling (see http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2327022) and I was unable to find the Find A Grave memorial by using the Find A Grave search utility since it does not do fuzzy searches.

We would all be most grateful to you if you will make that change! Many thanks in advance!

Capt John Lebright Rex?
Were you the person who said they had a picture to share of Capt John Lebright Rex, civil war Co B, 149th (Bucktails) PA volunteer infantry regiment?
(copy of posting)
New. Here is a rare photo of John Rex, sent to me by Larry Chenault, thanks Larry what a nice surprise.

Scarce 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry Signed Bugler's Tintype
RARE PHOTOGRAPH Exceedingly rare Principal Musician's tintype of John Rex, Bugler of the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Full length portrait shows Rex wearing a musician's frock coat with Cavalry shoulder straps, holding his bugle. Signed in pencil to verso, "Captain John Rex." John Rex mustered into Company C as a Bugler on 30 August 1862 and mustered out on 21 June 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. His regiment fought at Stone's River, Chickamauga, Mossy Creek.

I was unable to open the photo and would like your permission to use it in order to promote, preserve, and restore Cottonwood Cemetery that he is buried at in Lake City, IA?

Correction to my prior note
Working from memory does not always mean accuracy.
I appears all burials listed are connected in some manner through marriage or birth.

If you step back to 1850 and 1860 census of Saline Co Ark, and to the marriage records there, you can begin to see the relationships.
I know you have done this but it has been some time since I have done so. Please correct my previous note where I made the error in connectiosn. Sorry. NLG

change for Gamble
Hello Larry
From Norma Graham Gamble in Denton

A Pelton listing caught my eye which sent me to Honey Grove. Has been a long time since I visited info about Peltons. So much, so much is added each day.

Family names used over several generations still give me trouble. Thank you for all you do to make Chenault folks' history available to all of us

In Honey Grove listing
Eligah Thomas Gamble husband of Bette Hand died in Hamilton Co Tx and buried in Honey Grove.
He was called E T Local tax assessor died from riding through a snow and ice storm, caught pneumonia, etc.
Charlie Gamble son of James and Pheobe Pelton Gamble should be buried in Honey Grove

Stephen Chenault married the widow of E.T Gamble and they had several children.

Samuel Pelton father of Pheobe Ann Pelton Gamble
married second Sarah Chenault Burchfield widow of Burchfield. She brought several children to this second marriage and Samuel and Sarah had at least one son before Samuel died.

Sorry for the long note.
Chenault families are many timed married to Gamble lines.
Hope all is well with you. Tried to send a private message but it didn't work for my computer.
NLG
