Bio Photo Welcome -

We are doing a holy service by remembering the dead, and preserving history.

I think we all have a piece of the puzzle and if everyone contributes, questions will be answered.
please note - FINDAGRAVE as the name implies is a grave registration site and NOT a genealogy site. Although it can be very useful for genealogy.

This a wonderful site for remembering people. Peoples lives are fascinating and they deserve to be remembered and documented.

Please remember we are not just entering names or stones, but real people. Please ask yourself if your memorial is search-able. All memorials should have last names. Women who never marry, and children don't have maiden names. There is no maiden name unless the name changes. Also please do not use ().

Please do NOT create duplicates.

If you notice any mistakes, please let me know, and I will be happy to fix them. Nobody is perfect, we are all fallible human beings mostly doing the best we can at the moment.

We are merely stewards of 'our' memorials - we manage them and are entrusted with their care and maintenance, but we do not technically 'own' them.

Please read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Thanks, and please try to resolved unknown burials ASAP.

Please free to use any of my photos with appropriate citations. Will also add updates, -the more info, the better. I don't have a policy about transfers - ask and we can work it out.

"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." (author unknown)

RE: Ora Hall.
Thanks for the reply. I am new to this website but I have found it very interesting. My father is Leon H. Hall and he was born in Lowville and grew up on his parents , my grandparent's, farm on the West Road near the base of Tug Hill. Ora Hall is my great grandmother.

I am not sure what it takes to take possession of a record as you suggest. I live in SC so does it matter if I reside close to the cemetery or not? I have been working on and off on our family genealogy for 5 or 6 years but I am really working on documenting the information in a formal layout.

If I am able to take "care" of the record this far away I would be glad to.

Any advise is appreciated.

Matt

Louiza Jane Greer

Greer is her maiden name.... Aunt Louiza chose not to have her married name on her stone. She was married 3 times.....

Unknowns
You may want to know, FINDAGRAVE strips out "unknown" as a last name when
you do a spreadsheet entry, and sometimes also will strip it from the first name. This is not always under contributor control.

Thanks

RE: Leona Lamerson
Donna,
Last month or so I was searching in section L2 for an interment in row 65. All I saw was a swath of grass from one end of where the row should be to the other end. The nice people at the H.C. office told me about the indigent areas in L2. The photo I uploaded for Leona shows the empty graves at the end of each row ... to underline this, the first marker to the left of my clipboard is row 26, grave 3 (no 1 & 2 for all the rows shown above her grave site).

I first want to apologize, I know that you have spent a lot of time towards making Find A Grave what it is.
If I have information on a memorial, and there is another memorial, and I give the information to the owner of the memorial, which has been there for some time and I get no response, I may try and create a duplicate so there is a memorial that has more information on that person, I know it is probably wrong, but that is the story
I will add the picture and wish you well on your Find A Grave endeavors

I should have ignored you
What is your deal, do you go around looking for duplicates? Get a life

What I should do or should not do is not for you to decide
There was a memorial with a picture and more infomation than the other memorial, but you took it upon yourself to decide that mine should go and it did, you got what you wanted
