RE: Robert Hale
Hi Marc,

I do not own the Robert M. Hale photo. Click on his photo for more info and the website. I think the Springfield-Greene County Library District is the host of the website.

The photo was taken before 1923 and is in the public domain. I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Mike

Census is mistaken...?
Interestingly I just was looking in detail at each census, and in the 1930 census Hatti's husband is with one of their children and is listed as a widower, I found graves for he and Hatti in Liberal
Seward County
Kansas, USA

She is listed as passing in 1924 and he in 1942. So I don't know why the are both listed on the 1940 census when she had been passed for several years by then... perhaps he filled it out as though she was there... it's very odd! Thank you for your question, led me to dig differently and find out some stuff!

Hi Marc!

They are not twins. Hatti was born in May 1869 while Mary I have from the census as being born Nov 1872 (re 1900 census). Mary isn't on my bible as she's not my ancestor, however on the 1880 census you will find:
David Oldfield, age 29
Olinda Oldfield, age 25
Hattie B Oldfield, age 1
in Union, Wayne, Iowa.

In the 1890 census you will find:
David Olfield, age 39
Lurinda Olfield, age 35
Hattie B. Olfield, age 11
Mary Irrisha Olfield, age 7
Frank Olfield, age 4
in Canton, McPherson, Kansas

I can't find them on the 1890 census but the 1900 census Hatti B is married to Willis H Jones and she is 31 years old and she and her husband and children still live in Canton. I have Mary as being 26 and still living in her parent's home in Canton.

In the 1910 census I have Mary as being married to James S Coons and living with him and their son James, as well as her mother Orinda in Lakin, Kearny, Kansas.

The latest placement I can find on Hatti is she and her husband Willis are on the 1940 census in Phillipsburg, Phillips, Kansas. I have yet to find either of them on Find a Grave and am not sure exactly when and where they died though I expect Kansas as in 1940 they were 67 and 72.

RE: Joseph Wallace
Marc, Under close examination the quote is- "A faithful friend, a husband dear, A loving father lies buried here." I'm sorry I couldn't get better photos, it was so close to the fence I was pushing it back to get far enough to take it, brush, grass & poison ivy! Is a neat little cemetery. Luella

RE: Morrison Cemetery
Marc, You sent the message at a perfect time, I was wondering where I could go! I have been letting another volunteer do Marshall county, but yours has been on a long time. How's the book coming along, I think of you when I see one with the KS 8th on it. Joseph's never had that on, I'm not up on the initials meanings. Hope this is right, was another almost unreadable one, I haven't checked to see who all is already added to the cemetery, I tried to get all the stones, but ran out of battery, luckily I'd found Joseph's a bit before!
