Bio and Links
Bio Photo You have my permission to use my photos of Headstones in your own genealogy. It would be nice if you'd give me a little credit, but, let's get real, how am I to know? "Photo of headstone courtesy of Findagrave Contributor Beth in Colorado (#47321605)" works for me!
Oh, yes, I have kept the original photos, so if you want a larger picture, just e-mail me and I'll get it to you. I went and bought an external hard drive just to save them all, and am currently in the process of organizing everything. (7/11/2012)

I just got back from vacation in Missouri, July of 2014. It is just beautiful country with all kinds of "Weeeeeeee" Hills. Amish Folks trotting around in their carriages. "Why would anyone leave here?" I ask myself. And then 100 degrees that feels like 115 in the shade. With humidity. I am very, very happy to be back in Colorado. I didn't finish the Masonic Cemetery. I'll try to get back there in a year or so. With something for snakes. I hate snakes.

I love looking for family, no matter how far removed. It's just flat fun! My main interest, however, are Geer's, Hodge's, Hampton's, Cargo's, Walker's, Simmons', Sala's, Snyder's, and any attachments of said families.

I've recently become a little hooked on taking pictures out in Union Highland Cemetery in Florence, Colorado. I do so love UHC. One day I'll have photos of every Headstone out there up on Findagrave, and will have connected my peeps buried out there to each other. It was the Little Ones who got me hooked. "Where's your Momma, Baby? Where's your Papa?" Drove me nuts, so I started trying to find Momma's and Daddy's. I'm now a lost cause.

How on Earth other contributors input 100,000+ Memorials into Findagrave's data base is beyond me. I'm not a big fan of data input; however, Courtney B. (Contributor # 47335873) and I created Memorials for the approximately 15,000 Folks buried out in Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. It took from October 2012 'til the end of July 2013. This is no piece of cake.

All of this with a full-time job that I'm on-call for 24/7, bowling on Thursdays (which I really suck at, but somebody's got to be the Team Handicap), gardening (both flowers & veggies), and riding bikes with my husband, John, in the mountains on my beloved Harley, Pookah.

Enjoy! And I hope I've helped you in your own searching.

So, this is how I get started on tracking and linking the Folks in Union Highland Cemetery.

1. I notice the Vahldick's and Cowperthwaite's are buried in the same Lot. Gee, why is that?

2. There's only one other Vahldick in the Cemetery, Miss Sadie, and, why lookie there!, her grave is right next to Edward & Mary Ann Cowperthwaite. Two separate Vahldick's by two separate Cowperthwaite's. Bet that means something.

3. Harold's father was born in Illinois; his mother was born in England. Sadie Vahldick was born in England IF she is a Cowperthwaite.

3. In the 1910, 1920 & 1930 census', Mr. Harold Vahldick is living with Mr. David R. Davis. Harold is David's nephew. Oh, gee! Mr. David R. Davis's Lot is right behind Mr. Harold R. Vahldick's plot. Nephew, huh? That means Mr. David R. Davis is married to Harold's mother's sister.

4. Mr. David R. Davis is married to Miss Joan. I'll bet Miss Joan is a Cowperthwaite, etc. etc.

KNAUFF Entries in CO
Thank-you for creating the Memorials for the KNAUFFs listed in Canon City, Fremont Co., CO USA. I have searched far & wide for these folks, knowing they were there, but not exactly which cemetery -- if any. Read the notes that there has finally evolved a historical society there and am pleased to see work being done in that region of the country. Thank-you again.

Yvonneda Jean Riddle
Yvonda Clements Riddle Find A Grave Memorial# 79510754
I am still researching this lady and running in to some conflicting information. She has a memorial in Highland Cemetery, Stamford, Texas, but her death certificate shows Union-Highland in Colo. I have asked Find A Grave to delete the Highland, Stamford memorial since the owner is inactive.
Her birth record shows her father as Jerry Wayne Pace and mother as Martha Louise Kee; however her death certificate shows father as Charles T Clements and mother as Martha Louise Kee and her mother Martha Kee was the informant on the death certificate. Her marriage record shows Yvonneda J Pace as her maiden name. So I am not sure which is her real father.
Also sent come corrections on the edit tab earlier about her name, dob & dod.

Thank you
For trying to locate Anna's headstone. At least she has a wonderful view of the mountains.

Made me smile....
Just a quick note.... I came upon your profile while looking at other things... wandering around Find A Grave always leads to one thing or another!

You commented on another person's message board that you are a bit fanatical about connecting babies to their parents... me, too. I can't stand to have a baby without a connection to their parents. It makes me very sad... but then literally filled with joy when I figure out where they are and connect them. It gives me closure - and heck, I don't even know these people!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that your profile made me smile. I love the photo of you climbing that trellis and your comment about not changing much! Made me smile again.

Keep up your great work towards connecting folks to each other. I have taken on Madronia cemetery in Saratoga CA as my personal project. The connections and links between folks buried there that I have made have literally stopped me in my tracks over the incredible coincidences, and relations. It has been amazing and fulfilling.

Like you, it don't get how people can have 400,000 memorials. It has taken me almost two years to do what I have done, and that is with a lot of free time to do it. Those other people use a spreadsheet to auto-load the memorials, and are only doing it for the numbers. They have no care or concern for the memorials, or the people that they represent. They hang on to those memorials like you are trying to wrestle the last morsel of food from them.

Keep smiling!

I have no doubt that she is in good hands, just watch over her. Lydia Mae Turk is a grand niece of husband of 2nd great grand aunt to me.(what a mouth full) not close. Glad I could help connect her to her mother!
