Bio Photo PLEASE REQUEST TRANSFERS.... If you are related and can enhance the memorial by adding additional information, please request transfer, giving me your relationship. No transfers just for collection of a particular family name.

If you request a transfer, be sure you are committed to a lifetime of maintaining the memorial. Unfortunately a few of my older transfers are maintained by contributors who no longer respond.

IMPORTANT: When sending information to add, give source of information. Without sources, sorry, but changes will not be made. With new quick edits, this is still important. Unless evident on memorial, please use the other suggestion and include source. Please note that online trees, such as ancestry's, are not valid sources unless documentation is attached to the tree.

We've searched many graveyards, seen stones that were in such disrepair, and wondered what would happen to them as time marched on. This site is a wonderful way to preserve, if not the actual stone, at least a replica by photograph for future genealogists. Our eldest son has also gained in interest in photographing the stones and we have enjoyed working these cemeteries together and searching out requests.

If you have taken better gravestone photos that what we have posted, please post yours and send a message - we will review and delete ours if appropriate.

I may try to contact contributors if I question an edit. For those who hide themselves completely by not showing email or allowing comments, my only choice is to decline and hope they resubmit with additional information.

Happy graving to all!

---Linda & family

Oh, that is so interesting! The death certificate lists her mother's maiden name as McGonigle. John Vansant was living with the McGonigle family on the 1860 US Census and he was single then.

I found the family under van yanett as you said. I know it's them because it says John was a "tinner". On the 1860 US Census in Carlisle, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, he was listed as a "tinner's apprentice" and was single.

I did not see James Vansant on the 1870 Census. Do you know what happened to William and James? They were not buried with the rest of their siblings in the Old Graveyard.

Mary Margaret Pomeroy Hicks #102114468
My source of information provided on Mary Pomeroy Hicks is from her sister's, Isabelle Anna Brubaker Pomeroy Myers, story "My Life". This story was given to me be Isabelle's daughter-in-law, Sandi McMichaels Myers, who I met thru Ancestry.com.... We became very close friends... I consider Sandi my 7th cousin!! Sandi passed a few years ago...

I sent Isabelle's story, "My Life", to the Shippensburg Historical Society, where it should be on display. Isabelle's Memorial #100045079.

Thank you.....
Patti

Death Certificates/Obits
Linda
I have been getting request from relatives and desendants wanting the posting of death certificates and obits containing living relatives removed from memorials. I have explained that I can not remove anything that I have not posted, and that I have never posted death certificates on my memorials and will not do so. I also told them how to get your ID# and and send a letter to the CEO of Ancestery to register a complaint noting the contributors name and ID# that are posting items in the Photo section that are not of the deceased or gravestone of the deceased along with a photocopy of the memorial.
I am asking you again and for the last time to stop this sort of posting as you and Duey appear to be the most offending contributors of this sort of posting.
