Bio and Links
Bio Photo Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, PARKER, COLLINGS, BROCK, WEAVER and SHEPHERD. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.

I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).

The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have been doing research along these same lines for some years.

RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: " Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"

Please note that I am most likely not related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that had elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.

=========================================

Never mind my prior comments on the new quick-edit feature on FAG! The manager of the memorial has to check it; it does NOT work the way I thought it did. I certainly didn't intend to over-burden or cause a lot of work for anyone; I really thought it was an automated process and didn't realize that the changes I was suggesting, including such relatively simple things as plot numbers, were all going back to the original manager anyway. I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone; I was hoping to add information that would be useful to researchers and genealogists. So, Folks, if you would, would you please remember to check your "EDITS" tab on your profile every so often? I have had people tell me they didn't realize they were supposed to. If you do the edits outside of the system, they will still show up on my end as "pending." In other words, if you don't click on the tab, and then go through the steps, you can make an edit, but it doesn't clear it from the system. So, this is all much appreciated!!

Current number of PENDING "EDITS": 316
Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits! (As of 23 APR 2014)

=========================================

Please don't hesitate to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I prefer the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Feel free to use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

Robert S. MANKINS
Wes, I did some research yesterday and I was incorrect. I found he and his wife Melvina (Viney)in Seminole, Oklahoma Crossroads Cemetery

The one in Tahlequah may be Walter M. Mankins and his wife Lavinia. They lived in Washington, AR on the last census 1910 but Martha Ann Mankins Napier is their dght and she is buried in Molly Fields Cem. She may have brought them there or they were visiting her when they died. Sorry I confused you but these families have so many of the same names and Roberts father is buried in Bufalo Cem in Scott, AR. They came to Scott County from Greene, Missouri and from Rutherford, TN bef. that

RE: HOWARD CEMETERY OK
I am not sure what is going on in this cemetery, I started at the beginning and there are SEVERAL duplicates for many names. I am not saying I never make a mistake, but this seems absurd. There are 3 and 4 for the same person. I am going through and deleting mine but you may want to contact some of the others.

RE: TYNER, Elijah at 6631385
I photoed that whole cemetery a few years back and must have missed the dup I tried to check before make the entries but apparently goofed that one, It was a small cem so I thought I would get all the stones done since it looked to only have names entered which drives me nuts I only use hard evidence before entrys he courthouse/newspaper/etc entries I find to be impossible to get headstone requests done on either misprints or last minute changes who knows.
