I was born in 1946 in the small village of Farran's Point, Ontario,Canada located along the St. Lawrence River in the County of Stormont. In 1958 several villages (including Farran's Point) and islands were flooded (St. Lawrence Seaway Power Project).|
In 1971 my husband, 2 sons and I moved from Ontario, Canada to Alberta, Canada.
I've been researching the history of my family for 13 years and stumbled on this website in 2012. A wonderful discovery.
Names I most often research: Donnelly, Sheets, Heath and MacMaster (The family of my sons).
If you find a Memorial of a relative of yours that was added by me and would like me to transfer it to you, I would be happy to.

Thank you so much for writing, Joan. I am thrilled to hear from you! I started researching our mysterious Cunningham lineage about 2 years ago and found so much through Find-a-Grave and most of all from your entries. You have provided more clues and pictures than anyone and really helped me and I can't tell you how grateful I am. I agree with you about there being two Johns, the father 1786 burried next to Nancy, and the son 1811 who seems to have vanished. I am now trying to figure out who 1786's wife "Jane Doe" was. All five brothers listed mom as "Jane Doe". I can't believe that's her real name. There's a 1786 John Cunningham reference I have found in Tyrone Ireland is to a wife "Jane" (so maybe it's real?) with 2 little girls, Mary born 1804 and Anne born 1806 in Donaghmore and then they disappear. Or moved. I wonder if they're ours but I can't prove a connection yet. Then I also found a 1797 John and Mary with a 9 yr old son named John in that needs more research. I have also read about the amicable connection between the Cunningham clan and the Donnelly clan in that part of Ireland so I am increasingly interested in the Donnelly lineage now too. I did find the Rand connection: found Robert's connection to Lucinda Thompson (I think it was your submission amof) and a list of his siblings and their parents, Henry Jr & Sally Rand. But also his baptismal records in Londonderry at Kilcrongham Parish in the village of Tobermore, March 2nd, 1793 and he is listed as the son of a Henry Donnelly (Sr) and Mary Potter. So those would be our common ancestors. Henry&Sally Rand-Donnelly first and then Henry& Mary Potter-Donnelly also. That makes us distant cousins of some kind. I haven't been able to get any further back than that yet. I also found another John Cunningham in Ivy Canada who I "suspect" is our remarried widower but I also can't prove yet: in the cemetery of Ivy Presbyterian, Essa township, there is a gravestone of a John Cunningham, d July 3rd, 1898."native of Tyrone" it says on his stone. Maybe you can tell me what you think of it. So many loose end...so little time! I did not know about the flood, Very interesting. My G-Grampa Henry J left home in Williamsburg in 1861 right after his mother Nancy died and got a job on the Northern Pacific railroad at Morrisburg and it took him to the Minnesota wilderness and logging camps where he settled in Brainerd. My Grampa Henry A was born there in 1901 and my dad was born there in 1931. I was born in Minneapolis in '62 while he was at U of MN. I have since then moved to New Mexico for work. One sibling recently passed in Texas and the other two are in Michigan and California. Thanks again for writing. Fascinating stuff!
