Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working on my family genealogy for about 26 years and enjoy helping others in the process. What a great website we have here to be able to help others with their research and bringing so many families together in the process.

Please stop and visit with my sister.

Alice Jean Curtis Williams

My Dad:

Lloyd Foreman Curtis

See the Curtis/s Family Society for all your Curtis/s Family history at:

Under the "EDIT" key: You can Suggest a correction or provide additional information for any entry that I have made. Please send over the Parents and Spouse links on this also. You can also ask for a transfer under the EDIT key, then I have your ID # and can easily do the transfer for you.

I would be happy to transfer ownership of a record that I have added, if they are family and have more information that they would like to add.

Thank you for all the flowers and notes that have been added to the memorials that I have posted.

Rev Moses Fuller Paisley 39775815
Hi, Cheryl,
And thank you for alerting me that I created a duplicate memorial of yours for Rev Moses Fuller Paisley in a different cemetery.
I am not a direct descendant so of course I will not ask you to transfer your memorial to me. I can't imagine how I came up with his burial place in Hillsboro, IL, rather than Urbana, Champaign Co, IL.
Even the ILLINOIS Deaths and Stillbirths Index confirms it. I will change it as soon as I can, but I have to contact the fellow who posted the wonderful image of Moses Fuller Paisley along with another Paisley descendant in Union uniforms on my memorial. I will ask him to transfer it to your memorial.
I am sorry to have been the cause of the confusion! Must have worked late into the night when I was too drowsy to be working!
Regards, Nancy

Isaac Crupe transfer
Dear Cheryl,

Thank you transferring Isaac Crupe to me, I was able to come up with information to add to this memorial because I realized it was in my husband's family bible but I do thank you so much for your transfer. Sometimes information is sitting right under our noses.

Maroa Cem.
Jewel Walters Rogers was married to Earl Rogers. She died in child birth when her daughter was born. Her sister Ruby Walters move in with Earl to take care of the baby. Earl and Ruby later married and raised the daughter, Patty. When Earl died Ruby married Howard T Smith. Jewel, Earl and Ruby Walters Rogers Smith are buried together in Maroa Cem. Jewel and Ruby were sisters to my grandmother Opal Walters Mears who married to Ray Stanley Mears.

McNeer family of Tuscola, IL

You have some contributions for the McNeer family in Tuscola, IL. Are you related to this family? I am looking for information on the Stacy family that one of the McNeers married in to. Any clues are helpful. If you are related, I'd like to see if you can help me further.

Thank you,
Travis Brobst

Matt & Kara Underwood
Please transfer Siweck Family Memorials at St.John's Lutheran Cem. in Decatur, IL
Hello Cheryl---the Behrend name shows up way back in our family---we are perhaps distantly related---my great-grandmother's sister, I believe, married a Behrend.

This email is in regard to a few Find-A-Grave entries that are my direct family---my paternal Great-Grandparents---and their children, mostly unmarried or without issue. And I would just be interested if you want to transfer management of these memorials to me.

My name is Kara (Siweck) Underwood, and my husband is Matt (he's the main genealogist in the family). We were both born in Decatur, IL, and now live in KY.

Our Find-A-Grave membership # is #47992157.

We are adding stuff as we have time, and have yet to fill out our own biography or profile data very thoroughly, but will do so hopefully over the next few months. We'll be sponsoring many more of these close relatives so we can add more pictures, etc.

My dad was Don Siweck (# 137684396), who is buried in Missoula, MT, where we lived for many years, and where dad died in 1990.

My grandparents were Bob and Alice (Carter) Siweck (# 100010851, and # 110118553) who are buried in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland. We laid Alice to rest just 2 years ago, where my husband Matt performed the graveside service. Bob and Alice were members of St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL, before they retired (Bob worked at Staley's from about 1928 to 1976 or so) and moved to Mesa, AZ, where Bob died in July 1985. Alice died in Tucson, AZ in May 2013. They only had 2 sons, my dad Don, and uncle David, and both are now dead. My dad only had 5 first cousins, all dead.

I'm telling you all that to let you know that there is almost no one left in this family, and between myself, my only sibling, and two cousins, I am the one who is probably in the best position to manage these and maintain an interest in them.

Back to my relationship and request: Grampa Bob Siweck's (Robert George Walter Siweck) parents and family is buried in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery out on East Garfield by A.D.M.

August Siweck (# 40483605) was his dad, and Lydia Henrietta (Grossman) Siweck (# 40483698) was his mom---they are my paternal great-grandparents. Many of Grampa Bob's siblings are also buried there.

Emma Clara "Em" (Siweck) Powers (# 41669212) (1889-1921) had been married to a Sgt. H. Powers, whom she met on duty in Manila, in the Philippines. She died after childbirth in Honolulu, and the baby also died, child of Emma & Sgt. Powers, whom we have never been able to successfully trace.

Bertha Henrietta "Bert" (Siweck) Williams (# 41686670) (1891-1952) was on the household staff of A. E. Staley, in their big mansion house on the square at N. Edwards and W. North in Decatur, half a block south of Eldorado. Irvin G. Williams (# 63400028 & # 41686660 --- needs consolidated) (1879-1947)---her husband---was Mr. Staley's chauffeur.

Otto Edward "Ott" Siweck (# 40483798) (1893-1918) enlisted in the United States Army, and was assigned to the 152nd Infantry Regiment, of the 38th Division. They were in training at Camp Shelby, MS, before going overseas to France. At Camp Shelby, while Otto was on night guard duty on some particular levies in between pools of water, he was mortally struck in the back of the head by an unknown assailant and drowned in one of the pools. When his body was delivered to Decatur, the entire back of his head from ear to ear had been stitched shut with obvious post-mortem stitches. It is uncertain if this was the original mortal injury leading to his death (like being hit with a broadaxe), or if there was an autopsy which was the cause of the huge wound. The Army listed his death as accidental drowning, but his friends who served as escort told the family he was killed by some anti-German activists who knew his heritage was German---drowned, yes, but not accidentally. This was around the same period as the anti-German riots and murders which broke out in a number of U.S. cities, notably in St. Louis, MO.

Martha Lydia "Mart" (Siweck) Novack (1895-1946) (# 40483698), married on 9 Oct 1919, to Emmanuel Carl Samuel Novack, who usually went by the nicknames "Emil" or "Yats" (1897-1974) (# 41649416). They had 3 children, all now dead, including baby boy Robert Novack (# 41649381). The family name was spelled both as Novak and Novack, as seen in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery and this family unit.

Helen Paulina Siweck (1898-1910) (# 40483534) died at age 11.

Alma Emily (Siweck) Schnitzmeyer (1901-1984) (# 63400009) married on 15 Feb 1944, to Martin Schnitzmeyer (1897-1992) (# 63400018). Martin was from Hoffman, Clinton Co., IL. Alma and Martin lived in Decatur, and had no children. Great-Aunt Alma and I were very close, and she gave me quite a few items that belonged to her parents. I was 21 when she died.

Hedwig Marie Elizabeth (Siweck) Koshinski (1904-1982) (# 80291421) went by the nickname "Hattie", and later as "Babe". She married on 10 Jun 1925, to Frank August Koshinski (1895-1986) (# 80291417). They eventually moved from Decatur, IL, to Heath, OH, where they both died, but are buried at St. John's Lutheran in Decatur, IL. They had 2 children: Lois Ruth Koshinski (1927-2013), m: Noble "Bob" Scroggins; and Roland W. "Bud" Koshinski (1929-2006).

Last was my grandfather, Robert George Walter Siweck (1912-1985) (# 100010851), whom I have already mentioned.

I am just wondering if you would be interested in letting me and my husband manage the Find-A-Grave memorials for my Great-Grandparents August and Lydia Siweck (# 40483605, and # 40483698).

Also, perhaps you would consider letting us have whatever other relatives listed above which you have management of? (Some of these listings are yours.) I'm not trying to be "greedy" with this request, just helpful in taking my own family off your hands. Whatever your decision, Thanks very much, and thanks for the grave photos. The grave pictures we took many years ago are "lost" in our storage boxes.
