I am the youngest son of Lenoard W. Purifoy and Gertie H. Wilson Purifoy. I was born in Rodessa LA in 1939 but moved to Texas at a young age. I lived in Pasadena Tx. from 1948 until 1994. I then moved to Houston County Texas. A cousin told me of this site. I new that it would be a great help for people tracing there families past. I have been active in genealogy for many years and feel that this is something I could do to help others.|
If you see any mistakes in my entries or wish to add a bio please e-mail me at the address below. If I have an entry that is with your family and you want to handle Bio changes let me know, we can change the memorial to you.

First let me thank you for your work on Find A Grave. I am requesting your permission to use any of the photos you have placed on Find A Grave of my ancestors. Of course I will give you full credit.
I would greatly appreciate it.
|Harlan Svoboda||Christian Cemetery Duplicates|
I meant no disrespect, I simply just wanted to get this duplicates situation sorted out. I have been talking with Sylvia L. Nimmo about duplicates in this site, and she said she made the duplicates because she couldn't get a hold of you to make corrections/additions to the memorials you created. I don't know the whole story or the circumstances, I'm just trying to help.
After going through the cemetery listings, I've found the following duplicates between you and Sylvia:
Elizabe(a)th Self Arthur
William H. Arthur
John Crawford Calhoun Beckom
Leo Eugene Causey
Nila Etta George Causey
[Mollie] Neoma Murphy Campbell
Diana Lynn Tumlinson Dalrymple
James Daniel Faires
Mary Alice Murphy Houghten
Martha E. Lewis
Mary Jane Lewis
Nellie Moore Link (Helliemoore Link)
Richard T. Moore
Frank B. Murphy
Lucy S. Murphy
Emma Kern Robinson
Young Son Robinson
William Hubbard Turner
Elizabeth Luther McKnight Weaver
Robert Toombs Weaver
Minnie Lee Barker Westmoreland
Robert E. Westmoreland
Annie Elizabeth Skillern Wilson
If you could, please get in contact with Sylvia and see if y'all can possibly merge your memorials; because there is info on hers that could be added to yours and vice versa. I am just a third party, so there's really nothing that I can do, but collaborating with her might solve this problem.

Regarding Nancy Williams Purifoy
- Memorial # 19226337
[Old Snow Hill Cemetery]
I'll be interested to know when you locate the cemetery where her husband, John Purifoy is buried. I have not been able to locate it. The cemeteries have not been transcribed yet for the county where he's supposed to be buried.
I'll give you the info. I do have - from the book "John Gulley Genealogy: A Planter in Alabama and Arkansas and His Descendants"
b. Sept. 21, 1787 in North Carolina
md. Dec. 21, 1809 to Nancy Williams
"He died Aug. 25, 1839, while visiting Shelby Springs, Ala., and is buried there. His wife died at Snow Hill, Wilcox County, Ala., May 9, 1875, and is buried at 'Old Snow Hill.' Their children were ten in number..."
I need to check out the others in the Purifoy family you have entered on this site to find the ones who relate to me. Thanks!
Nancy Blake Thompson, Amherst MA
(b. Farmerville, Union Parish LA)
Nancy Williams Purifoy would be my 3x-great-grandmother - via her daughter Mary Ellen Purifoy Gulley, & her daughter Nancy Levenia Gulley Pickel, & her son Jesse E.W. Pickel, my mother's father.

|Robert C. Peurifoy||Purifoy graves|
Thank you for listing all the Purifoy graves. This has been quite an undertaking.
I have worked on some of these on the Coast here in North Carolina.
So far, with the three family groups, I have about 5,000 individuals who descended from Lt Thomas Purefoy, the immigrant in 1621 to Jamestown, Virginia Colony.
I will continue to follow your work with the parrallel family tree.
Robert C. Peurifoy
