Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am interested in finding my immigrant Stevens ancestor. I have even had my dna tested. On the y-dna side (dna on the y chromosome, which is passed from father to son), I am R-L21, which is the most common haplogroup in the British Isles, especially Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Update: Since I wrote that first paragraph above, I have tested positive for two SNPs downstream from (descended from) L21: DF13 and DF41. DF41 is downstream from DF13, and DF13 is downstream of L21. The Royal House of Stewart, family of a number of famous kings and queens of Scotland and England, has tested DF41+, as well, so I guess I'm in good company! :-)

Thus far I can only get my Stevens line as far back as my ggg-grandfather, Auguston Stevens, born 05 Feb 1804 in Wheeling, West Virginia (part of Virginia back then), and buried in Old Bastrop Cemetery, Bastrop, Louisiana (Find A Grave memorial #77451118).

I am thinking about becoming a photo volunteer. I am a teacher, so I could take photos during the summer, and I know of a number of little old family farm graveyards back in the woods around where I live.

Micou connection
No, I'm not related in any way. We were there (driving from Greenwood, SC.) for the day to take photos of my husband's Pournelle family buried there and I just took the requests along with me to do. Diane

I will post the photos for his marker. I took several trying to get the inscription. Thanks for creating his memorial for me.

History of Morehouse Parish
Hello Richard
Besides, Known Burials of Morehouse Parish, I also have a copy of CC Davenport's Looking Backwards: Memoirs of the Early Settlement of Morehouse Parish AND "My Kinfolk" by T.Y. Harp.

The people of Morehouse intermarried quite a bit. Almost everyone is kin one way or another to everyone else. If you'll let me have your address, I can send you a ton of stuff.

I was born and raised in Mer Rouge, Morehouse Parish.

I found quite a bit of stuff while digging into the old 1922 KKK murder of kinsman, Filmore Watt Daniel and Thomas Fletcher Richards. They are both buried at the Bonne Idee Cemetery in Morehouse Parish. The Bonne Idee is my family's cemetery. The murder pitted the town of Mer Rouge against the people of Bastrop and made national headlines for many months.

Jerry Murphy is records keeper there (nice guy). You can try contacting him. He may be able to check for you.
