Okay, great. Thanks! :)
|jane austin||Just dropping in...|
... to say that I really appreciate the quick responses to edits that I submit. It's getting more and more rare, but I want you to know that it *does* matter! Thank you. :)
I just saw a note on your message page about the Mahn's. I have them in my tree as an offshoot. They're mostly in Minnesota? Might I have something that would help?

I did not set out to take up your entire Sunday, but my inbox kind of makes it look like that's what happened. :)
It was such a lovely day on Friday, that I grabbed some photo requests and set out to Waterman Cemetery and ended up taking more than 50 photos there.
I had never been to Oakland, but I had quite a list, so I headed over there because the light was still good. Holy Moly! I have never been to that cemetery. I was not living in the area for about 30 years, so I missed most of the funerals), but I was literally tripping on friends of the family and relatives! So rather than looking at my list, I went through part of the cemetery just snapping photos of people that are in some way associated with my family (my mother grew up in Peterson), and I've been working on the family tree for about six months straight now. Thus - all the edits. I have all this information at my finger tips, but I haven't actually gone through my tree and cross-referenced my files and findagrave's data base.
You have done a great job with that cemetery. The light is very very tricky over there, and it seems to me that it's laid out very oddly.
So thank you for all the work you've done there. It is an amazing body of work you have, and I am thrilled to see all of these families being reunited virtually.
I don't think I'll hit you this badly again, but thanks for jumping right on the edits. It's easy to get lost in them when there are three generations of Mary Anns. :)
Hope you have a lovely evening, and thanks again. :)

In 1970, I was stationed at Fort Leavenworth for my last 9 months in the Army. I was in charge of a 16 person traveling Honor Guard conducting military funerals in Iowa for soldiers who died in Vietnam. The people of Iowa were the most generous and giving people I have ever met. I recall one funeral in Castana where the population was only about 100 people. Same with Alvord. The communities shared the loss with the families and they treated us like family. Difficult duty but softened by the kindness of the people.

This particular spelling doesn't exist in the cemetery records.
However, I have seen the gravestone & it had a different spelling but I need to go back to the cemetery & look for it.
I have added the obituary for Francis Gaskill to his memorial page. He was my husband's great grand uncle. Thank you for providing it.

Thank you Nancy, for the creation of and subsequent editing of the above person's memorial. He is now linked to his spouse and one of his children. Best Wishes.
I would like to take over the memorial for Everett Fields. #120269653 He was a brother of my father. Thank you!

You are very welcome. So happy to help! I added a memorial for George Gordon's wife, Eileen. Do you want a transfer of her memorial to you? I'm happy to do so.
