I am a descendant of William Jackson Hicks and Sarah Rivers Hicks. I have been doing genealogy research on the Hicks line as well as numerous collateral lines for about 12 years and have created an extensive database of Hicks relatives. My wife and I have traveled extensively throughout the entire United States and into Canada in search of ancestors and relatives. I have recently started placing tombstone pictures and photographs of individuals on Find A Grave but have many more left to do. With many hundreds of photos and tombstone pictures and only limited time to work at it, it will take time to get everything published on Find A Grave.

Lela Corene Hicks
Lela Hicks Sheffield was my great-grandmother, born 11/3/1876at Colmesneil, Tyler Cty, TX. She bore 13 children, 10 of whom lived to maturity. She married Thomas Francis Sheffield, born 2/23/1867, in Georgia; married 9/7/1893, Tyler Cty; died 8/1/1968 in Houston at the home of Mittie Lee Sheffield Howell, my grandmother.

I am Tamara Flake Sbelgio, and I remember meeting you and your wife at a Hicks Reunion in East Texas. I was with my mother Muriel Howell Flake, dau of Mittie Sheffield Howell and Hobart Lee Howell. Four years ago, I moved from my home of 40 years in Austin to Alpine in the mountains of Far West Texas. The climate and scenery are beautiful and the cultural resources are remarkable. Because we are 3 hours from the nearest major airport, I am hoping this oasis will not metastasize into the swollen urban Stress Island that Austin has become. My mother, who is 88 and has alzheimer's, has been living with me for about a year and a half.

Thank you for maintaining this resource for Hicks descendants.
