Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been recording genealogy and family histories for approximately 40 years. This has always been an interest of mine--since childhood. I live on a piece of the old farm where I was born and my family has owned for generations. Several lines of my ancestors have been in this area of Southeast Georgia for over 200 years. I am a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, both of which I am very proud.

I have been a member of Find A Grave for much longer than stated above. I was unable to access my old account and had to start anew. I've always enjoyed visiting old cemeteries, as well as old houses.

My husband, Larry, and I have published two pictorial history books: "Treutlen County, Georgia" in 2008 and "Montgomery County, Georgia" in 2010. These books can be purchased online at Arcadia Publishing Co. We enjoyed visiting people in these counties who invited us into their homes and allowed us to scan their precious family photographs.

Anything I post, photos or memorial biographies, may be copied and used for personal use as long as you give me credit, just as I personally do if I can find the source.

I welcome corrections and additions to my posts and will respond to all messages. This site is a wonderful tool, but it is only effective if those who post memorials will strive to place them in the correct cemeteries and will continue to maintain them.

No offense, but I am just saying what the d/c says, which you make take as you wish :)

You are welcome even though I couldn't get much of a section of the headstone in the photo what with the evergreens growing directly in front of it. I added the second photo to assist anyone that might be looking for the headstone as no much is visible.

I also contacted the owner of the memorial for her husband William Thomas Price to add the cemetery location for him, as his location was unknown.

I deleted my memorial since there was already one in the cemetery that you named. But according to his d/c which his son Daniel Lee Galbreath was the informant, his middle name was Washington not Webster.

Re: Alton Murray
I noticed you had taken over his memorial. Do you know anything further about him, parents, etc.? He is the father of my aunt and, while we know what happened as far as him shooting and killing T.W. Brantley (who was my g-g uncle) and his deputy, and subsequently being executed, that's about it. I'd love to fill in any details I could for my aunt, she was just a baby when all this happened.
Thanks!

RE: Mary Rewis
Hi Olivia:

It is there--try looking for Georgia Rewis--it should pull up my tree.

Where did you find the list of free Negroes listing the Rewis family members. Thanks for your help with this.

Regards,

John

RE: Lizzie Belle Humphrey
Olivia, thanks for your interest in my post. Everything looks about right here except the county of death, Jenkins. My Elizabeth died in Montgomery County. Again, thanks for your help.

RE: Mary Rewis
No problem. The will written in 1825 reveals that Mary was the mother. No doubt Elizabeth was in the mix. Lots of unknowns in the Rewis family---even the background of the name spelled Rewis, Ruise, Ruis, Ruiz,Rouis--is it English, Spanish, Dutch?

I am grateful you are researching and looking for more answers!

RE: Mary Rewis
Hi:

Remember this will was written in 1825 and probated in 1843. Robert Daniel born circa 1809, would have been 16 in 1825. I think you missed the part of the will being written in 1825. I believe Mary is the Mother. I have never heard of an Elizabeth being the wife of John Rewis.

Sincerely,

John Burnett
