-A. L. Tennyson

"A cemetery . . . tells the story of the past, not of its institutions, or its wars, or its ideas, but of its individual lives, -- of its men and women and children, and of its household. It is silent, but eloquent; it is common, but it is unique."
-Joseph Anderson, American Clergyman

|Larry Van Dyke||Amanda Wingate|
I've searched for Amanda but cannot come up with anything. Could she have gone by another name? I only found one other person in the Haseville cemetery with the Wingate name. I know the person who keeps the records for the Haseville cemetery so I need to see if I can get a copy of them. It is not infrequent that a person is buried and there is no tombstone. Most of my records are based on a canvas of the cemetery and reading the tombstones and newspaper articles. I can give you a list of the Wingates I have in my file for Linn County but that is about all that I can do at this point.
Yes, I was at the Haseville cemetery a year or so ago and need to go back. At least some of the Gooch's in the cemetery are related to me. I was born about 1/2 mile from that cemetery. The Gooch's all came from Virginia but we haven't determined if they go back to the same person yet. Some say no, but I'm not convinced yet. Otherwise how did both lines end up in the same area at the same time.
|Larry Van Dyke||Gooch Cemetery|
Yes, I was able to get the article. That was article had some more information that I had not seen in some of the other similar articles but as I have studied the history of Linn County it is not surprising. If you look at the pictures of the cemetery today it is in bad need of work on both sides. I've gone in and cut grass and sprouts and have worked on some of the fallen trees and I'm hoping to get them all out this year and get the cemetery to where it can be mowed and you can get to all the tombstones. I had to crawl under a fallen tree to get pictures of one a few years ago.
Thanks for your information. Every little piece is helping put the puzzle together. Don DeWitt from New York and I are working to get the Gooch family connected as much as possible.

You have a note posted on his page 25741481
that says he had a fourth wife. The posting on Findagrave only shows 3 wives. Can you provide any information on his fourth wife and any children by his fourth wife. I have been able to find 13 children but his obituary says he had 14 children with 12 living at the time of his death in 1893. I know Albert died before he did.
Thank you so much for remembering our Gypsy
|Eternity Persephone||Hello Georgia|
Georgia how have you been? Thanks for your sweet note. It's nice to be back, but very hard to navigate the site on an android tablet. I am hoping to get my desktop fixed soon, so I can be more active on the site again. Nice to see you around on here again. Take good care. Your friend, Tippy

I have added the information you sent and also the information on his grave marker.
If you want me to transfer this memorial to you, just let me know.
|Ann H.||Thank you|
I just wanted to thank you for the information you sent to Rosie to me. We don't have very good treatments around here in Monroe,MI. I do not like my doctor and the other doctors here are afraid to take me with my many health problems. Maybe some day we will have doctor's who are willing to do more. Hugs, Ann

|Brian J. Ensley||RE: Chauncey Queer & wife|
So far the PA death certificates on Ancestry.com are only available from 1906-1924. They're slowly working on getting all of them on-line ending with 1963, hopefully by November.
Yes-I spoke too soon, before looking into his bio - strange because he spent so much early time in the east - then the Texas connection - then Salt Lake and am looking when he ended up in Hollywood. If I am finding the right man, he was married before... sure strange to lose track of Junie/June. Do you know where they married?
His marriage to a Nancy Carter Sigler was supposedly in St Louis, Missouri 8 Dec 1896. Found her family in Caldwell, Kentucky, but not her; she is supposed to have married again to a W. Homer Batiste.
