I have been researching my family tree, taking over the work that my dad started many years ago. My dad, the family patriarch, is the keeper of the family genealogy, old family stories/scandals and ancient family pictures. We've had a good time together talking about family history and sharing our discoveries.

Of course, everything is a never ending project. More grave sites of ancestors to find and record. I also try to pay it forward by creating memorials for other people's loved ones along the way, time permitting.

My direct lineal ancestry on my paternal side goes back to my
11th great grandparents, Edward and Mary Bosworth, who sailed from England to Boston, Massachusetts aboard the "Elizabeth Dorcas" in 1634. From there, I descend from their son, Jonathan Bosworth, then from his son Jonathan Bosworth, Jr., who was married to Hannah Howland, daughter of Mayflower passengers John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley.

My grandmother immigrated from County Cavan, Ireland in 1907 and came with her sister through Ellis Island, New York. The rest of their family came soon after, with some moving on to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

My mother's people were all English, Irish, and Scottish immigrants to New Brunswick, Canada; the Natick/Wellesley, Mass. area; and Upland, Pennsylvania.

Find-A-Grave is a fantastic place for memorializing the deceased and helping folks with family history research. I've met many kind, wonderful people through this activity. It is truly a blessing to collaborate with folks who give so generously and unselfishly of their time and energy, while continually striving to make the Find-A-Grave site a better place for all by walking the cemeteries and photographing stones.
