Recent trip to Hunter Cemetery, Maury Co. Mt. Pleasant, Tn. Two large trees have fallen and one missed the McGee memorial by about 2ft. Another tree fell and has destroyed the ts of Richard Stockard and about 6 others around it.|
Wayne Austin and I are trying to get volunteers to go there and moved the trees and repair the stones that are damaged/destroyed. Any suggestion on how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. A photo on the memorial of Richard Stockard will show part of the damage.
Born and raised in Lewis and Maury County, Tennessee. Member of the National Society of Children of the American Revolutionary War.
Maury Co., Tn has many historical cemeteries. Many Rev. War soldiers are buried in Maury Co./Lewis Co. Tn., also many Civil War Generals, War of 1812, and their soldiers.
Cemetery preservation is very important to me and I try to list from actual cemetery visits and various book listings. I have been working with Wayne Austin for the last 10 years as a volunteer contributor for his project.
Please, e-mail me with any corrections or additional information that needs to be posted at any Maury County Cemetery where you see my name via the edit option on the memorial.
If I have posted a close relative of yours let me know and I will transfer. Please use the edit option on the memorial for updates, corrections and questions, my responce will be much faster, I don't have to look up the memorial by name that way.

Yes, she duplicated 25 Poarch memorials I had done and then quit. I asked her to remove them but no results. I don't know anything else to do. Any sugestions?

Hi, thanks for catching me on this one. Sorry, it must have been a long night. I have removed it and will try to replace it with the correct one.

Hi, great to hear from you. This is for the Herric T. Hight Sr.'s memorial. This is your memorial and my photo. This memorial is correct. The problem is Herric. T. Hight Jr's memorial #9366926. This memorial was created by Rick L. Gray and is maintained by D.J. Long. There are two photos attached to this memorial. One is mine and it is correct. The other photo is yours, it is incorrect. Your photo has the parent's headstone.

Thank you very much, Mary Bob. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you very much.
Alice is buried in section U of Rose Hill. I have left a message to the person who created her memorial in Rosemount three times to ask that they change her from Rosemount to Rose Hill, but I have not received a response to the request. Should I remove mine when I know that mine is correct and the other one is not correct? What do you think?

I am so sorry it took me this long to see what you had posted. Yes, Mary Alice Griggs was the daughter of Joseph L Griggs and Lavinia (Vinny), Harris Griggs. She married James McCandless and they had 6 children. James Wesley McCandless, the baby, was my Daddy.
|Ron Johnson||Johnson Chapel Cemetery|
Because the original Johnson Chapel Cemetery in Maury County, with 177 interments (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2145141), had an incorrect map location, I started another. Now I realize that I should not have done so.
Repeated requests to combine the two cemeteries have resulted in no action.
So I am taking this recourse: I am asking that you transfer all of your memorial pages to the other, more correctly located Johnson Chapel Cemetery with 150 interments (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=14097).
Hopefully, after that, the incorrectly placed cemetery can be removed.

So what do YOU think? I think the DC is correct because of the parents' names. Is that marker for someone with the same name? A new marker that is incorrect? (The marker was put up in 1920.) She IS in the cemetery with her parents. ????) For both the DC and the marker, someone had to provide the information. Either could be incorrect. ???
