PLEASE REQUEST TRANSFERS.... I will transfer listings if you are family or for other good reasons unless related to me, just tell me your relationship or reason. Most transfers will be granted, my transfer rules are more lax than guidelines. My goal is to have all my listings turned over to family members! |
IMPORTANT: If sending me information to add, please give me source of information. Do not just send something like "Maiden name was Jones". Without sources, sorry, but I will not add information.
Find-A-Grave is a natural extension of my long time hobby of genealogy. I've researched the Barrick line and published a book on Johann Nicholas Barrick and his descendants, originating in the Cumberland & Perry County areas of Pennsylvania. I've searched many graveyards, and have seen stones that were in such disrepair, that I wondered what would ever happen to them as time marched on. So, when I found this site, I thought it would be a wonderful way to preserve, if not the actual stone, at least a replica for future genealogists, and felt it would be a great hobby.
If you find any errors, let me know. If you have bio or notes to add to my listing, I'll review them and add them as appropriate, I do need documentation of dates or other information before I will list it. I may add the info and use your contributor name as the source.
I'm also a volunteer photographer for the area. If you have a photo that is better than any I have posted, please post it, let me know via the "hint" and I will delete my photo if appropriate.
I try to extract obituary information for some of my memorials to honor the life of the person, which also may give some leads for my fellow genealogists doing research.
For anyone interested in family history, or genealogy in general, "The Storytellers" is a must see link. Original Author - Della M. Cummins Wright and Modified by - Della JoAnn McGinnis Johnson and Tom Dunn, tells it all in such a beautiful way...

Thank you for the additional information for Gayle. It has been added to her memorial page.
|Been There||Shap cause of death|
Thank you so much for writing me. Yes, I have that article as well, and this cousin's story has always touch and intrigued me. However I intentionally left the info out about cause of death, as I'm just not sure yet how I feel about publicly posting sensitive and/or info to "memorials." I'm open to your thoughts on the subject, though.

Thank you for the transfer. 😊
|Beth M. M.||RE: Lininger|
Thank you, I suppose if it were easy it would not be any fun. 😊
|Beth M. M.||Lininger|
Thank you for your additions, I was wondering how Nellie Lininger fit in. My connection is to Mary Eleanor Lininger #102423455. From other family researchers she has been identified as Mary Eleanor Mortorff. Daughter of Israel Mortorff #44808179 and Margaret Heller Mortorff #39315219. She married a man named John Lininger, father to John William Lininger. Unfortunately I can't find a marriage license for her or otherwise validate this information. I don't know if they simply talked to descendants or if they found records I just can't locate. I think John Sr must have died shortly after his son was born as I cannot find him on any census records. If I locate anything I will suggest the corrections. Thank you for updates that you made. Bethany Mortorff
