I am more than glad to transfer management of any entry that I am not directly related to. I think Find A Grave is a useful tool for family history searches, but personally I think it is awesome to have a place where EVERYONE can have their own little memorial space. Therefore many of my entries are not my family, but rather my effort to provide a memorial for as many as possible. I also welcome correction requests and will update any memorials that need it.|
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Thank you for sharing the information regarding William Chester Whited. I have made all of the necessary corrections to his memorial and then went further to add more.
|Rod Hatfield||William "Billy" McCoy|
Just a note concerning the newspaper story concerning his death and reason for moving...
Ryan Hardesty states on Facebook---"The person writing the info incorrectly states that he moved from Pike County to escape the Hatfield McCoy feud, but since there was no feuding going on in 1867, we know that's not the case."
|Britany Elizabeth McCoy||thanks|
My grandfather is Cecil Ottoson McCoy son of James Dallas McCoy and that was pretty much all I knew but thanks to you I traced my fathers back all the way to the Revolutionary War, I found my Great great Grandfather Samuel David McCoy and went backwards from there. Just thought I would say thanks.
Thank you so much for your quick response to my request. I appreciate your work!

Are you kin to the Alexander and John J. Clark then? My wife is descended from them. I posted an image of John from the Civil War here. I have another of his wife, Isabella, that I will scan and download to her page here. Where did you get the one photo of her? Thanks!

|Sandra Nokes||RE: William Twedell|
I am just happy you made spots for them, otherwise I would know where they were. Thank you for that.
|Sandra Nokes||William B Twedell|
Hello, I am wondering if you are related to or know anything about William B Twedell, who you have posted here. I am trying to find my step-mother's family. She died in 1988 and there isn't a lot to go on. William would be her Grandfather. I would love to find a family member who could help. Thank you. And if you are not a family member, Thank you again, for putting him here, so I could find him.
