I will be happy to transfer a memorial to a relative (most of the time, your husband's great aunt may be an issue, or your 6th greatgrandmother who you share with 645 other descendents). I also give you permission to use any photos I take for other geneological purposes, such as posting on, etc. You do not have permission, however, to use it on a duplicate entry that you made.

Just a note on photos: Pictures taken at the National Cemetery were taken during overcast days, which works better with my camera. Also, if you want to see a larger picture, click on the Photos tab at the memorial and you can read the enlarged one.

As another side note about photos, I took many photos straight on and found my reflection in many of them. I had to delete those and retake them. This is true for black, grey and sometimes red stones. That is why I take photos from an angle. Also, the pictures uploaded have to be 750 KB or less (600 x 800), so they are small. I don't clean the stones.

Can I add an obituary to my interment listing?
You should not copy obituary notices from newspapers to an individual's memorial record unless you have permission from the newspaper to do so or you are the author of the obituary. Some obituaries that were published in 1922 or earlier are now in the public domain. In general, obituaries in newspapers are submitted by the family with assistance from the funeral home. If the obituary is added to the memorial record, it should list the newspaper and date the obit was printed for example "Published in the Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Internet Edition, April 11, 2007". Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission. If you do not have permission to copy an obituary to a memorial, you may put a note stating the name of the newspaper and the date the obituary was published.
Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record.
Obituaries for "famous" individuals are usually written by newspaper staff and can not be posted to Find A Grave as the newspaper company owns that copyright.
Please do not include website addresses that may be listed in the obituary as they usually expire within a year after the obituary is printed.

Why would you add a photo that looks just like the photo I added 8 years earlier?

Julia M Schwartz Lear, daughter of Anna V and Louis Schwartz, was my wife's grandmother. She died soon after giving birth to Arthur John Lear, my wife's father. I am the creator of Anna's memorial and interested in your source for corrections. I only have 1900 & 1910 census records and the tombstones to go by.

RE: Smiths
Thank you so much for the transfer and for your very kind words. Two years ago I was very sad when I lost my father. Today the sadness still exists, but I am able to remember that my dad no longer has to suffer from the cancer that gave him so much pain in his final years.

If I can help with any research for you in Northern California, please don't hesitate to let me know.

With kindness,

Dear Rebecca,
Thank you so much for transferring Aunt Madge's memorial to me - my mother is thrilled. She hasn't been to the grave in many, many years and it was comforting to see Aunt Madge's memorial. Thanks again...I am hoping to pay this forward by taking photos in a cemetery near me sometime.

Dear Rebecca,
Would you please consider transferring the Memorial for Margaret C. Gaschen to me, Margaret Laskowski. Margaret is my grandfather's sister, "Madge," and both my mother and I are so happy to locate her grave. My mother, whose memory is fading, couldn't remember the cemetery name or location and we're so happy that you photographed and documented her memorial. We would be so grateful if you would make this transfer to me.
Best wishes,
Marge Lasko

RE: Helen Hohman
You are kind, but since the two memorials had numbers separated by 25, it is most probable that I did inadvertently create the duplicate that day.

Thank you for telling me about the duplication. I had no idea I had done that. I will delete the one which was less complete.
