Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am in the process of working with Owen Cemetery, (Thomas Township, Saginaw, MI) to record all of the names of the people buried there and photograph all grave sites.

September 20, 2014
One year later...
It's become important to me to provide as much info. as possible for anyone looking for family members, so pardon my edits....but I'm hoping they'll help people find the correct family members, or just add info for those people looking for family connections.

September 20, 2013.
I just discovered this site and am learning a LOT about my family history.
My family's names are: Knepper, Graham, Pringle, McNicol, Bracey and Uptegrove.
Thanks to this site, I found and 'met' my father's family. No easy task, when his mother died in childbirth after having his youngest brother, and his dad left them. The children were too young to know much about them except that their mother was from Caro, MI. My aunt remembered that their mother's maiden name was the same as her married name...that's how they met. They were introduced by someone else with the same last name.
Thanks to all of you who do this! It meant the world to me to 'find' them. Now I'm on a quest to find out more.....and in the process I want to help others...just like several others have helped me.

Would you like me to transfer the Hertha memorial to you? That is the only one I created. I am not related to Skingley or Fraser so I don't mind about those. I am related to Vasold-Giese that is my interest. For me Hertha is a Vasold. Are you related to any of these people?

RE: Ella (Kruth) Pretzer
Thanks for the correction and for making the memorial. Ella is only a shirt-tail relation, but I try to be thorough in my research! Thanks, again!

RE: William R. Greiner
Lee Oscar Greiner was married to my maternal grandmother's sister, Agnes Summerfield Smith. Their daughter, Shirley Irene (Greiner) Dixon was my mother's first cousin. When I was a kid, my family would spend the entire summer in my grandmother's house in Atlantic City. Aunt Agnes lived in an apartment in the basement with her daughter Shirley and her two sons, Gerald Lee Dixon and Jeoffrey Hargraves Dixon. Jeff was 10 days younger than me, so we spent a lot of time together. Shirley, of course, is gone but Jerry is alive and lives in New Jersey but spends winters in Florida. Jerry was married twice. He had a daughter by his first wife, but she was adopted by her mother's second husband. She had at least two children by two different husbands. Jerry's second wife had two boys by a previous marriage and Jerry adopted them.
To my knowledge, neither of the boys ever married. Jeoffrey lives in California with his wife and an adopted son and daughter. He works (worked) for the USPS but seldom communicates with his family. I have not heard from him in years.
Lee Oscar Greiner (sometimes listed as Oscar Lee Greiner) was known as Uncle Lee to me. I do not remember him but certainly remember Aunt Agnes.
Shirley had the Greiner Family Bible which I copied on a visit many years ago when I was gathering genealogical information. Even though the Greiners were only related by marriage, I felt compelled to copy the Bible entries. I'm glad I did as I think the Bible has gone missuing. Shirley said that her grandmother Greiner was supposed to be related to President James Buchanan but she did not know how.
The children listed in the Bible were:
Lillie Leona Greiner, born 4 July 1860
Wiley Elsworth Greiner, born 2 December 1861
Frank D. Greiner, born 25 May 1863
Estelle Greiner, born 1 January 1966
Ettie Alberta Greiner, born 10 February 1868
Nora Irene Greiner born 3 August 1870
Paul Clifford Greiner, 31 October 1874
Lee Oscar Greiner, born 5 June 1877
The date of the marriage of William R. Greiner and Eliza E. Buchanan is 29 October 1959 but I have seen a published record which gives a different date (off by a couple of dates, if I remember correctly).
I have a copy of an article about Agnes S. Smith's marriage to Lee Oscar Greiner from the Atlantic City Press. It mentions some Greiners who attended the wedding from Canada but I don't know who they are or where they fit into the family.
Those of Uncle Lee's family who attended the wedding were:
Mrs. Elba Hubble (and 3 children - Dorothy, Elizabeth and Julian);
Mr. and Mrs. William Witt (Nora) - all from Saginaw, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Greiner of Detroit, Michigan. Don't know who Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Lindsy or Mr. and Mrs. George Goffield (both of Smith Creek, Michigan) were nor do I know who Mr. and Mrs. D. Z. Gray or Mr and Mrs. J. Greiner (all of Muskegon, Michigan) were.
The Greiners from Canada were Mr. and Mrs. K. Greiner and Mr. and Mrs. D. Greiner. If you can help identify any of these people, I would appreciate knowing.
My mother recalled that the day WW I ended, Uncle Lee gathered everyone in his car and drove up and down the streets of Atlantic City honking his car horn as the passengers all waved American flags.
Shirley had two sisters - Phyllis Lee and Martha Elizabeth and one brother, Robert Jay. All were married and had children. Martha was called "Martie" by all the family.

RE: William Frost Jr. 1945
Thank you for the assistance. You've given me what I needed to know.

Sadly, this isn't my GGgrandfather.

Thank you.

RE: Ella (Kruth) Pretzer
Hi, Janet:

I have a copy of the obituary and it states her birth was September 4, 1888. Also, her birth record is on family search with a birth date of September 4, 1888; however, her name is misspelled. Here is the citation for the birth record: "Michigan Births, 1867-1902," database with images, FamilySearch ( : accessed 28 September 2015), Ella Kuitz, 04 Sep 1888; citing item 2 p 56 rn 838, Richland, Saginaw, Michigan, Department of Vital Records, Lansing; FHL microfilm 2,321,096.

Janet, I sent an edit re: my gt-aunt Mary. I know findagrave's first purpose is as a memorial, but I too have found family members here, so correct spelling helps us with searches. I know this is a Kerby, not Kirby, because it is my mom's family!! THANKS!!!

You have lots of work ahead- but so glad you are doing to get things in order.

It sounds like Greenridge in Bay City. Private owner and almost impossible to get any info. Our family had to visit the cemetery and thank God we received a map from Lottie Harrington otherwise we would have been dead in the water.

Thanks again Janet- you're doing good work!
