I am a North Londoner of Irish Protestant and Anglo-Indian (or, to be more accurate, Hiberno-Caledonian-Anglo-Dutch-Huguenot-Indian) parentage. I was trained as a mathematician but, at the moment, am working only part-time. I have travelled a lot; not only around the British Isles, but also throughout: Europe; Africa; America (North only; I have yet to cross the Rio Grande, never mind the Panama Canal, although I did, once, venture across the Forty-Ninth Parallel for a month, and should like to go back to Canada again, sometime); Asia; and Australia. Unfortunately, most of those voyages were undertaken before the invention of the digital camera, so I can't show you too many of the graves I saw when I was abroad. When I am not travelling or working, or painting or acting, I am learning to play the piano and various woodwind instruments. I try to keep my body fit with cycling and swimming and karate, as well as by never drinking alcohol, or smoking, or eating flesh, or fowl, or fish, and I try to keep my mind fit with chess and crosswords and reading.

Please note; I am forever running around this world (as Jefferson Airplane once sang), and seldom check the computer when I am on my wanderings; but, if you write to me, I shall make sure that I answer on my return.

RE: Woolaston grave ACT
Thanks Iain. My husband thought I was crazy photographing graves on a recent holiday! I hope you get to Queensland one day. We think it it pretty special.
Happy travels!

Woolaston grave ACT
Thanks very much for recording this grave. I had been looking for the burial place of my Aunt for some time so that I can visit next time I am down that way.

Thanks for the Bessie Bellwood pics. I hate it when I request a pic and it is fulfilled with a single pic of a stone without any context. I always take at least three when I post pictures. Yours were very good. Thank you.

RE: Tolkien
Sometimes I copyedit everyone except myself. I don't enjoy being corrected, but I do appreciate it. I tend to obsession: I get satisfaction from mending things, even to stepping on toes.

No, I never seriously thought they had divorced. Michael was younger than John Francis, so unless he was the result of an indescretion, I don't know how he can be half-brother to anyone. Possibly he was adopted from another branch of the family, and "half-sibling" is a euphemism. Quite a stretch, I admit. FindaGrave allows posting of biographical information w/o supporting evidence, so I'm thinking possibly this is misinformation which has been removed by administration, with the vestigial links overlooked. Interesting riddle, but I suppose not really important in the larger scheme. I personaly know of half-siblings who grew up only vaguely aware of each other's existance, and others who assumed the same parentage, only to learn otherwise as adults.

RE: Tolkien
You're absolutely right about my virtual cemetery. I have used it as a catch-all for people I personally admire who have been censored by certain factions of our country. I either need to reorganize, or re-label some of the cemeteries. Probably both. I use them for my personal convenience, and I'm afraid they're more confusing than informative to anyone except me. Not what was intended by FindaGrave, but such is life.

Michael Hilary Reuel Tolkien is linked to both his mother, Edith Mary, #19696821, and his brother, John F. R. Tolkien, #114355637. However, his is a dead link. (I don't have a memorial # for him, and I haven't successfully searched him either, though that means very little. MANY times I have faithfully searched Find A Grave before creating memorials, only to learn later that I have created a dupe.) My information is that he is a half-sibling, though I don't understand why? Did JRR and EM divorce? They seem to be buried together.

RE: Tolkien
I don't. I was going to ask you the same. I'll continue to look.
