Bio and Links
Bio Photo Besides working on my own family tree I'm working, through public records such as those found on, to identify the men, women and children buried at the state hospitals in Morganton, NC, Goldsboro, NC, Brattleboro, VT, Namozine, VA, Rusk, TX, New Toronto, Canada and Middletown, CT and to link them to their loved ones. I have also listed those buried at the Caswell Training Center in Kinston, NC and Letchworth Village in NY and hope to have assistance in linking them to their loved ones.

I grew up in Greenville county, SC, first in the city of Greenville, then at the foot of Glassy Mountain in the "Dark Corner" where my maternal grandmother and her parents and grandparents were born. My mother, Anne Ballenger King McCuen, worked for decades as a meticulous land historian in upper SC and published several research texts. My father, William Garrison McCuen, MD worked for decades as an internist/general practitioner caring for many of the upstate SC residents in their homes, hospitals, the Veterans' clinic and his office.

Now I am in the foothills of NC, but enjoy maintaining family property near Glassy Mtn.

You hereby have my express permission to use ANY photo I have made and posted to Find a Grave for your own purposes - but I would appreciate a credit notation as the source should you repost it on your family tree, for this reflects the efforts made in preserving the record and may also provide a link to others interested in that person or cemetery.

I "inherited" a number of memorials posted by Buck Buchanan who introduced me to FAG and will happily transfer them to family. Just send a SAC stating your relationship and I'll be pleased to turn them over to your care. Alternatively, if you are working to identify folks in a particular cemetery where Buck posted memorials and would like to manage the memorials he posted - just let me know and I'll be happy to transfer them to your management. I have found that Buck duplicated a few of the memorials he posted (and on occasion so have I) - if you find that to be the case please let me know so I can remove the duplicates.

As for those of you who assist me in making these memorials useful and respectful, "thanks" and please keep your helpful edits coming.

A lot of conflicts might be avoided among us if each of us will accept and act as if this is about those who've gone before and NOT about us.

Thank you for the duplicate notice. That is very strange--my computer with all of my cemetery notes died, but I think that there might be two Sallie Hortons in that cemetery; I probably got identical corrections and approved them without checking. It is very hard for me to get up to my grandma's and check right now, but I'll go ahead and get rid of one.

Okay, Thanks. I visited the cemetery yesterday, and I posted some headstone photos.

I noticed you posted a newspaper clipping for Robert Marquis 46192526. Are you related to him? I'm wondering if Robert's parents were James Marquis and Margaret McCune of Cross Creek, Pennsylvania?

Thanks for adding the newspaper article about his death, Poor guy made it that far in life only to be hit by a tree! Appreciate it.

RE: Wm Hubbard Newton
He is actually buried behind Stony Point Baptist, so I have requested that the memorial be moved there and merged with the one already at Stonny Point Baptist.

Hi, The duplicate memorial has been deleted and the photo transferred to the original posting. I hadn't even realized I'd doubled up, so I do appreciate when people let me know. Thanks for the work you do here.

Hi Susannah -

Are you family and related to Peter? I am looking for family!

I have accepted your edit. I hope to add bio info soon to his memorial. There is so much to add, and will do a little at a time.

Cheers from Washington State-
