My genealogy interests are primarily ancestors and family of both my wife (Culver, Mott, Cresse, Johnson, Burnett, Harpster & Downs) and myself (Nickell, Bowen, Lewis, Ramey/Remy, Keeney, Ogan, Ferguson, Lee, Stutler & Sowders). I am always eager and happy to assist others, as well as those who may have an interest or who intersect our family tree. I particularly enjoy acquiring additional historical perspective of where ancestors lived, what they were doing and how they spent their lives during the periods of (American) history in which they lived. |
Please visit the Civil War Journal (Letters) of Andrew J. Nickell, my 2x-great-grandfather who proudly served with the 114th Ohio Volunteers as a Federal Soldier at Vicksburg ... To His Beloved Wife and Children: The Civil War Journal of Andrew Jackson Nickell.

I am the caretaker of the Church cemetery where this family attended. I know exactly where the family burial ground is on the homeplace, and Isac is said to be buried in the "Vine Covered Cemetery", there are no markers to define the actual graves, but they are all certainly buried either at the Old Lebanon Cem or under the tree at the house. Feel free to contact me at 304-671-1915 or at email@example.com Tracie

I am not related but am researching the family tree of a friend who recently died. Charlotte Hilgeman was the 2nd great niece of Annie Minnie Johnson Culver and I would love to find out if you have any other info or photos on this branch of the family. It is a truely touching story about how she went to see her brother Nels off on the boat to America and ended up jumping on board with him!! This is precious! Thank you for your work, and if you have any other info or questions I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Laurel Paulson-Pierce
|Larry Copeland||Robert Nickell's son Thomas|
Robert Nickell ( B 1767 D 1849 ), his son Thomas is interred in Huntsville Cemetery in Logan County Ohio. His date of death is 9 Oct 1865 and is my great-great-great grandfather. His son James Madison Nickell Sr fathered James Madison Nickell Jr who fathered Cloyd Melville Nickell who was my mother's father.
I've looked for years for the Ohio connection for the line. Don Nickell claimed it descended from James Albert Nickell but that didn't feel right. I'm glad to finally able to connect the dots and say hello to all my Nickell kin.
|Rabbit's Hill||Henry D. Ferguson|
I found his grave! He has a military headstone (Indian Wars Vet). There are unmarked graves on both sides of his. I did find an Everette C. Ferguson. The picture you have on his memorial is not the section he is in. He is in the next section to the right closer to the side fence. Hope this helps!

I am restoring the cemetery near the homeplace andwhere some of the descendants are buried. It is called the OLD Lebanon Cemetery. BTW the House is NEAR Ronceverte(Greenbrier Co), but in Monroe County. I know that your Papa John is buried under the old tree, so I believe that there may have been a log building there or near the site where some of the family and others may have met for Sunday service when there was a preacher availible. This would have been prior to the log church being built in 1802. If you are interested in the site or in my work, I'd love to hear from you and include you in the book of Descendants of the Church. Thanks for the correction on his date!!
I got the initial information from another source and didn't double check when I added the stone photo.
