Bio and Links
Bio Photo Any and all PHOTOS posted to my memorials, by ME, are mine and are not to be copied to any other websites. I do not want my personal photos to appear on Ancestry.com. and or Facebook. It does not matter that I took the photos or not. They are my personal family photos and copying them is a copyright violation. See PHOTO guidelines below:

General Rules:
ONLY post photos for which YOU hold the copyright (meaning photos you took)!!!
The copyright of all photos posted to Find A Grave remains with the original submitter. No use of photos for any other website or personal use is given without prior consent of the original submitter. (This means do not copy and post my PHOTOS to another website!!)
No photos taken from any website, including Find A Grave!!!

If you have copied my photos and posted to Ancestry.com, as some have done, please have the courtesy to remove the photos. It is a copyright violation. Please adhere to the rules and guidelines of Findagrave.com and Ancestry.com. Thanks to all of you who have removed my photos from Ancestry.com, whether you agreed with the FAG and Ancestry policies or not. It's still a copyright violation.

Please do not post death certificates on my memorials. I find them offensive; send me the info and I will add in the bio. I am in the process of removing any that I have added. Although this practice is permissible by Findagrave, I think it is really in poor taste. It's strictly my opinion, which I am entitled to!
I asked one member to remove and got two very nasty e-mails.

Duplicate memorials: if I have made one, let me know; I will ask FAG administrators to merge into one. They have been very helpful in the past to merge duplicate memorials. When FAG administrators merge two memorials, none of the flowers, etc. are deleted.

Also please be nice when responding to a Findagrave member's edits, requests. This site is NOT the place to vent any anger, mean statements and any other such comments. If you don't agree with the message, edit, please respond in a nice way.

When I send an edit, I have usually found the information on Ancestry.com or another source backed up by documents; and in the case of family members, it is personal knowledge or family documents. If you need exact info, let me know and I'll tell you the source.

Thanks to everyone who have left flowers and notes on my Uncle: Augustus (Gus or Junior) Byrd (Find A Grave Memorial# 48422763), who died in a Japanese Prison Camp in 1943. This brave soldier as well as all others who have served or given their life for their Country deserve all the honor and praise we can give them.

If you wish to leave a message for me, please go to a memorial and leave a message under the edit tab or public contact. I have removed my e-mail address as I kept getting unsolicited e-mail from other sources. If you wish to contact me privately, send your e-mail address; I'll contact you via your e-mail address and delete the public FAG message.

Per your request, I have transferred management of memorial #69573269 to your care. I am not related to Mary, but knew her from school; her brother, Ray, was in my class and was a friend. Mary was a smart and fairly pretty girl and was perhaps two years ahead of me and Ray. Have a wonderful Christmas!!

RE: Pvrt. James Floyd Giles
Your welcome. More than likely not. Most of the Confederates buried at Oakwood 98% of them do not have a headstones. Most are from family and friends who put them up after 1876. In 1866 a Ladies Church organization raised money to put wooden headboards with the soldiers names painted on them. By 1876 most were rotting away and a lot were used for firewood by free slaves and people looking for wood to burn in there homes. The Ladies church organization went back out there and wrote down what they could read off the wooden headboards. A few names were misspelled, wrong units and just not readable at all. There were no stones at all out there until 1900 when they put small stones where the soldiers were supposed to be buried. Each stone has three numbers each number is a soldier buried side by side. The list is in the cemetery office with the soldiers names. Out of the 17,000 give or take 3,000 nobody really knows how many soldiers are buried there. There are 8,000 known soldiers buried there and about 8,000 unknown. You can google Oakwood Cemetery Richmond, Va.. The SCV have a website about Oakwood. They have the history about why there's no headstones on the graves. I just gave a short version.

RE: Photorequest for Ester Bailey
She was a neat and classy lady. I spent many years in the Masonic Lodge with Fred. That is how I first met her.
