A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I've lived since 1998 in the Historic Licking Riverside District of Covington, directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. During my first couple of years on Find A Grave I focused on the Grabinschriften of the German immigrants who settled in such large numbers throughout the Ohio River Valley. Much of my current research time is spent on the ancestry of my great-grandparents, Henry Lloyd Rogers (1888-1967) and his wife Fausta Iona May Rogers (1887-1962), especially my 3rd-great-grandparents Joseph Dawson Sidener (1819-1883) and his second wife Martha Jane Trotter Sidener (1836-1917) of Haw Creek Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana, and my 4th-great-grandparents Henry Lloyd Drake (1804-1872) of Saint Louis Crossing, Bartholomew County, Indiana, and his first wife Julia Ann Harper Drake (1808-1838). My favorite German connection is through Julia Ann's 3rd-great-grandmother Marthe, Madame de Rocoulle (1655-1741), who was a Hofdame at the Berlin court of Friedrich Wilhelm von Preußen (1688-1740) and Sophia Dorothea von Hannover (1687-1757), and was the governess of their son Friedrich der Große (1712-1786), König von Preußen.|
Another pursuit is the ancestry of my 4th-great-grandmother Sarah Ann Timberlake Woodfin (1809-1855), who died during a yellow fever epidemic in Norfolk, Virginia. Her 5th-great-grandparents, Thomas Symes (c.1621-1670) and his wife Amy Bridges Symes (1621-1662), are buried in the chancel of St Michael's Church at Winterbourne in Gloucestershire, England.
